You'll never guess what this man on horseback was doing on Burgess Road in 1875. Long before Urgent Care and Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Dr. Henry Ernest Schmid (1834-1926) traveled all over Westchester doing house calls on horseback.

It was once used by Tony Grimaldi's grandmother (yes, in the 1920's! 🍷), and now he carries on the winemaking tradition here in Scarsdale.

Inside our two-room schoolhouse, the only Scarsdale Public Schools school building from 1876-1906.

Where was this?
How did they get to school?
How many children went there?
What did they do without heat and indoor plumbing?
Wasn’t there a schoolhouse in Quaker Ridge too?
