Comedy has long been an outlet for uninhibited commentary on the world as we know it. Where in the world could that outlet be best utilized? "Mainland China!" yells our latest guest on "Good Advice for Bad Ideas," Turner Sparks.
During his 12 years living in China, Turner founded Kung Fu Comedy, the first and (at the time) only full-time standup comedy club in Shanghai, which featured international comedian headliners and ex-pat Chinese comedians. Originally the Chinese government let the small club do its thing, but, as it grew in popularity, the wrong joke could (and did on occasion!) bring comedians under official scrutiny.
