Special Guest Time! ✨⠀

Our very first Jaded, Unjaded guest is none other than the multi-talented author and illustrator Sue Pickford Cheung - Creative ✨ Sue's book 'Chinglish' was recently announced as the winner of the 'Best Young Adult Book' category at The Diverse Books Awards 2020! 🎉⠀

In the sixth episode, Sue shares incredible words of wisdom and life experiences including growing up in a Chinese takeaway, rediscovering her cultural roots by connecting with others through her book, and closing the gap between generations of British Asians by sharing the many commonalities we all hold, regardless of background and experience. Bonus: She also teaches Steph how to pronounce 'diaspora' properly through a unique technique! 😅⠀

The most hilarious and honest episode we've ever recorded to date, make sure to not miss out! Join us for an insightful, fun and laughter-filled discussion! ✨⠀

EPISODE 5 RECAP! 👀🎃👻✨⠀

'Sleep paralysis' is a phenomenon that occurs often in teenagers at first, but men and women of any age can experience it. It is a state where your mind is awake but you are not able to move your body; most individuals (including our very own host Steph) would describe the scary experience as "feeling someone/something pressing down on their chest". 😱 Other stories we have heard include waking up with strange marks on their body, wanting to scream but not being able to, and simply staying in this state for what feels like hours. 👁 👁

Want to hear the biological/psychological explanation to it? Link in our bio if you'd like to catch up with our Halloween episode! 🧡 Be sure to also let us know your thoughts in the comment section below:

• Have you ever experienced sleep paralysis before?⠀
• What stories have you heard?

EPISODE 5 RECAP! 👀🎃👻✨⠀

A century before Disney even created their first animation film (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs) the Grimm brothers wrote ‘Grimm’ versions of fairytales that intentionally had a moral to the story which reflected the German living conditions at the time.

With Cinderella, the stepsisters are punished severely for deceiving the Prince after they claimed to be the mysterious woman he danced with at the ball and upon being caught, have their eyes pecked out. Want to hear more scary stories? Be sure to check out or Halloween episode where Steph re-tells some gruesome fairy tales endings 🩸

We want to hear your thoughts too! Tell us in the comments:⠀

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! 👻🧛‍♂️🎃 ⠀

What's your favourite scary movie? 🎞⠀

In this episode, Steph and Jules discuss how they plan to celebrate Halloween this year, share their favourite Western folktales (including Bloody Mary and Grimm Tales), whether they believe in certain superstitions and the phenomenon of sleep paralysis. We've also put a little twist in by including various Asian folklore stories and how they are able to connect in some ways. Finally, can our listeners help us figure out whether the glitch that occurred during this episode was technical or something else too? 😨😨😨 ⠀

Welcome to our spookiest segment yet! We dare you to listen...💀 Link in our bio! 🖤🖤🖤🖤

(PS. This episode is a lot funnier than scary, ironically) 🤡

EPISODE 2 RECAP! ✨⠀

In the most recent episode of Jaded, Unjaded we discussed self-care during quarantine. As creatives, we face immense pressure to get a project completed and out into the world and this has become more of a concern in this current climate. The pressure can lead us to negatively measure our self worth with others while not being able to have access to the outside world, therefore only being able to see success and not failure through the digital world.⠀

However, it is important to never forget that we are creative and passionate about telling our stories because we believe it is fulfilling our purpose rather than following what society or social media tells us to do.⠀

In our first episode, we touch upon the subject of identity! Our identity can be seen, heard, felt in many ways. However, there may have been times where we felt lost or like we don't belong. ⠀

Ultimately our identities is what makes us, us. It is what makes us unique and stand out (in a good way) and we should be proud of who we are. ❤️🤗⠀

・What does 'Jaded' mean? ⠀
Being 'jaded' is losing interest because you have experienced something too many times, and this can be about anything. Our aim in this podcast is to talk about all kinds of topics (from casual to serious) and express a personal perspective with positive vibes throughout - therefore ‘unjading’ the jaded feeling. ⠀

Let us know in the comments! What are you feeling jaded about?⠀

Feel free to share our upcoming podcast with everyone you know and give this page a follow to keep updated with our content! ✨⠀
