Ever since India went into lockdown to curb the spread of Covid-19, Punjab police constable Ajaib Singh has been going around his city to donate food and essential items to migrant workers and the poor.

His TikTok channel, which has more than 800,000 followers, features videos of charitable acts during the lockdown. One of these videos had an unintended result when it succeeded in reuniting a man with his family after he went missing two years ago.

R Venkateshwarlu, who has speech and hearing disabilities, was seen in the video filmed under a flyover 2,000km (1,242 miles) away from his home.

A friend alerted the family who then contacted police to reunite the family ❤️

A TikTok video helped an Indian family find their missing father at the other end of the country.

A thought-provoking article which invites you to remember the COVID-19 pandemic not just as a time of destruction, but also a time where we are able to celebrate humanity:

"When it comes to disasters and pandemics, we tend to remember their destruction, but not much about how societies coped with them. In the distant future, when the COVID-19 pandemic simply becomes a disaster to mention...not many will remember all those heartwarming human stories that have been emerging as part of our response to the pandemic."

Three main things we must remember going forward: helping others is an innate quality and it is perhaps one of the best characteristics of humanity, most of such solidarity and assistance is taking place among ordinary people in our communities right now, and we must record these positive stories for our future generations to provide them with hope and trust in humanity.

As of today, nearly 3.5 million cases of COVID-19 have been reported worldwide, including more than 250,000 deaths. With such a staggering death toll and economic impact, there’s no doubt

One morning in Beligum, Tristan Van den Bosch saw a man shouting at his mother from the street - she was three storeys up. Like many older people in Belgium and around the world, she is in lockdown in a care home. As operation manager for a cleaning and maintenance company, Mr Van den Bosch had a number of cranes sitting idle due to lack of work during the pandemic. Seeing this problem, he started driving cranes to homes in several towns to carry family members to reunite with their relatives through their windows.😁

Irish people are sending money to Native Americans hit by the coronavirus. Why? Well in 1847, the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma sent $170 to Ireland during the Great Potato Famine which claimed one million lives. More than 170 years later, Ireland has returned the favour, helping to raise more than $2 million for the Navajo and Hopi nations, which have been hard hit by the coronavirus pandemic. In particular, the Navajo nation tribe has the highest per-capita infection rate after New York and New Jersey but has a fraction of the resources.

"Sending the actual amount of $170 personally after 170 or so years felt like the right tribute across the ages."
