Today we’d like to introduce you to Neeahtima Dowdy. Hi Neeahtima, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today? As I was approaching 50, I began to wonder if there was something more I should or could be doing. I wasn’t idle. After [....

In a very weird way, Madonna (yes, it's Modonna) proves that aging is, indeed, beautiful.

I hesitate to criticise any woman for her choices, but the public seems to agree she has gone overboard.

While I'd love to have a nip and a tuck, I'd much prefer my jowls and turkey waddle to being unrecognizable.

NEW BLOG! Have you thought about getting cosmetic surgery? Here I reveal my 30-year love-hate relationship with my breasts!

About 10 years ago, I had breast reduction surgery. I had been insecure about the size of my breasts since high school. Almost overnight, I had to deal with breasts too uncomfortably full for my petite ballet dancer frame. I rapidly grew to a DD, supported on a 30” frame. Bras were always ill-fitt...

Don’t look now, the weekend is coming! Make it a great one.

I’m running a mother race tomorrow with a 5:30 am wake-up call. Temps have been in the 60s, but it will be maybe 30° at the start 🥶.

And those damn elves still haven’t arrived to take the rest of the Christmas down, so . . .

Sunday Sermon!

In an recent interview with The Christian Post, 69-year-old Kathie Lee Gifford explained how her Faith affects her attitude toward this chapter of life. She continued:

“Not that there’s anything wrong with those things, but when you are on fire for the Kingdom of God, that will stay with you until the moment the Lord takes the breath from your body and takes you in His arms. And that’s the way I want to spend the rest of my life: refired, not retired.”

I’m going to take cue from Kathie Lee and strive to stay “fired up” and not “tired out.”

(get it? ReFIRED vs ReTIRED 😂)

Taking a break from normal programming for this observation: The sport that saw declines in audiences over controversial kneeling is now leading the world in kneeling in prayer. I didn’t have that on my 2023 Bingo Card. Damar Hamlin #3 has single-handedly made prayer cool again, as sports figures publicly pray and ask for prayers and one ESPN anchor prays LIVE on air!

The dancer on the right, is ME as a Mirliton in the Dallas Ballet’s Nutcracker. I was about 14. I danced in several Nutcrackers, and they were among my fondest childhood memories. I’m pictured at the barre with one of my best childhood friends, Yasmin. She was gorgeous and smart and an incredible jumper. I have no idea what became of her.

On 2-show days, our parents would leave us older students at the theater all day long. With a bag lunch. In between shows, we would return to the stage and take turns dancing all of our favorite roles. We could sing and dance practically the entire ballet.

This photo is special, because it would have been my first Nutcracker role en pointe. As Apprentices to the Company, we got to take warmup class on stage with the Company prior to each performance.

The ballet company founders and directors were husband and wife. George Skibine was born in Russia and in the ‘30s and ‘40s danced with some of the world’s great companies. He directed the Paris Opera Ballet and married Marjorie Tallchief. She was a famous ballerina along with her more famous sister Maria Tallchief. There are in the history books, as they were Osage Indian girls who were among the first Americans to gain worldwide fame in Ballet.

Maria was married to the legendary George Balanchine. Since he was my teachers’ brother-in-law, Mr. Skibine had the exclusive privilege of putting on Balanchine choreography.

Skibine was my most beloved teacher and I was among his favored students. He was diagnosed with cancer shortly before a Nutcracker and hospitalized during the run. We made a giant Nutcracker mural for his hospital room and a couple of us were allowed to take it to him. He gave me what sounded like final words of encouragement. He died a couple of weeks later.

Much of my drive and joy for ballet dissipated after his passing. I’ll always be glad for his strict lessons and very Russian way of pushing me. It has affected whatever success I achieved in any aspect of my life.

For many, the holiday season is a mixture of joy and loss. But even in the losses, you can focus on the gifts those remembered souls gave you.

RIP Mr. Skibine

Sunday-before-Christmas church—preppy style.

My plaid heels with chocolate leather trim and t-straps from are one of my favorite shoe purchases ever. The skirt is old BB, too, and I paired it with a silk blouse and cashmere sweater from for a festive-but-not-Christmas-Eve look.

If you’re enjoying Hanukkah, I hope it’s filled with light and love. For those who celebrate Christmas, here’s to a smooth week of final prep! May your decor stay lit and your oven stay hot!

Adding to the things it’s never too late for . . .

I’m now a regular contributor to our community magazine, “The East Cobber.”

✍️✍️✍️

I’ve used my Journalism degree in many variations over the years, but it’s been 30? years since I’ve had a byline in a newspaper or magazine.

Just like my YouTube channel, I’ll be featuring women (and men, too) who are reinventing themselves in this next chapter. These, however, will be limited to the residents of East Cobb.

And FUN FACT, the new owner of the publication is reinventing herself, for the first time becoming a publisher. Wow!

What’s next for you?

What can you imagine?

I brought this faux leather top from at home for my college girl, but it was too big. I was going to take it back, and then I thought, “why not me?” I love the princess seams, puff sleeves, and hit of abs.

I had a fun playing with different looks and playing model in the porch now that I have finished refinishing them.

For this look, I paired it with classic trousers and some old favorites:
Bling cow hair riding belt
Ruffle cardi from
Brown suede pumps are Costa Blanca 🤷‍♀️

I love waking up and having eyebrows and eyelash’s—for the first time in my life!

My pale, sparse eyebrows and eyelashes just always made me feel like I had no eyes. Now, whether I’m out for a run, or headed to the gym, without makeup—I HAVE EYES.

I’m telling you, of menopause has you struggling with your brows and lashes, this is the solution. I’ve been so inspired that I reached out to THEM to say I wanted to tell everyone.

Head to Nulastin.com and tell them I sent you by using code Neeahtima20.

You’re gonna love looking on the mirror when you wake up.

Does the term "anti-aging" offend you? I've listened and read for several months the pro-aging narrative about embracing our age. I absolutely embrace my age . . . but are we not allowed to fight the negative effects? Here's some food for thought! I'd love to see what this community thinks of my musings.

Pro-aging. Anti-aging. Ageism. 60 is the new 40. Reverse Aging. Aging Backward. As the population is living longer, healthier lives, these terms are increasingly discussed and debated. I've observed discussions everywhere from LindedIn to Clubhouse, from Facebook to Instagram. If you follow enough o...

🙋‍♀️Raise your hand if you’re also the caregiver for an elderly parent. It’s tough, but it’s also the greatest blessing each day that I have to take care of my 93-year-mom. I’m so glad she lived a mile away through her late 70s and 80s, and moved on with us a few years ago.

👵 We’re spoiled because she’s been pretty self-sufficient,, walks with a walker, makes her own breakfast and lunch, even washes the dishes and let’s the dogs out. She has lots of doc appts and pains, but is otherwise capable. It’s tough to see the ER visits become more frequent. I am grateful for every day, but praying they are less stressful for her. It was 4+ hours in the waiting room, before getting an ER bed.

👨‍⚕️ If you know someone who needs a career change or a student who needs a major—NURSING and hospital staff! All the nurses we encountered last night were very young and appeared to be fresh out of school. They were outstanding, compared to the older nurses at the last hospital who were clearly overworked for far too long and were “over” their jobs.

👩‍⚕️ The doctor told me the hospitals are in a crisis of being able to treat people, because they can’t find enough people to work. Some in the ER last night had been waiting for 8, 9, 10 hours. My mom’s pressure got her to jump the line and only waited 4.5.

And though she was officially admitted, she’ll likely not leave the ER, because there is a wait for hospital discharges.

Maybe your calling is to go back to nursing school?
