Y’all know I love talking to my therapist, Sandra. But, it wasn’t always that clear to me. It takes a true evaluation of yourself, your life, your emotions, your mindset, and what you truly desire out of your future before deciding that therapy is for you. Our lives have been heavy lately, but take some of the weight off and enjoy today for everything that it is and everything more that it can be. TODAY IS A HOLIDAY, it should be a NATIONAL holiday, but it should be celebrated in full force nonetheless.⠀⠀⠀

On September 22, 1862, President Lincoln issued the preliminary Emancipation Proclamation, which declared that as of 🗣 JANUARY 1, 1863, all enslaved Black Americans “shall be then, thenceforward, and forever free.” HOWEVER, it was not until two and a half years later on June 19, 1865 that Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas to inform enslaved Black Americans of their FREEDOM and the the Civil War had ended.⠀ ⠀⠀⠀

The However Comma Podcast stands in solidarity with those who mourn and demand justice for the lives of black men and women that have been taken prematurely by the hands of racial injustice.

Although, we are all well aware of the brutality and discrimination that black people have endured over the course of our nation’s history.

As a lawyer, it is my duty to stand against the systemic racism that continues to saturate our communities. Therefore, I would like to express my continuing commitment in the coming days, months and years to being a partner in finding solutions to eradicate injustice and ensure equality.

I made this cake today. I made it because I’m tired, scared and angry, but baking makes me feel better. Even when it’s ugly...because this world is really hideous. BLACK LIVES MATTER. We really do, we really don’t deserve this treatment, and we are really sick of this s**t. I just want people to love black people like they love cake. And everybody loves cake.
