How to perform salat al Istikhara (the prayer of seeking guidance)

1. Pray two Rakas of non obligatory prayer.

• First rakat recite: Surah Fatiha then Surah
al-Kafirun.
• Second rakat recite: Surah Fatiha then
Surah Al Ikhlas.

2. Remain seated in the place of prayer and recite this dua while facing the Qibla.

3. It is recommended to open the dua of istikhara, with praise of Allah and sending blessings on the Prophet ﷺ and to close it in this manner, too.

It is not necessary that you get a dream or even a “feeling.” Rather, the istikhara is a prayer that Allah guide you towards that which is best (khayr) for you. If you do the prayer of guidance (istikhara) with the proper manners, the most important of which is to truly consign the matter to Allah and suspend your own inclinations, then Allah will make events unfold in the direction that is the best for your worldly and next-worldly affairs.

Narrated Jabir bin `Abdullah:
The Prophet (ﷺ) used to teach us the way of doing Istikhara (Istikhara means to ask Allah to guide one to the right sort of action concerning any job or a deed), in all matters as he taught us the Suras of the Quran. He said, "If anyone of you thinks of doing any job he should offer a two rakat prayer other than the compulsory ones and say (after the prayer).

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْتَخِيرُكَ بِعِلْمِكَ، وَأَسْتَقْدِرُكَ بِقُدْرَتِكَ، وَأَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ الْعَظِيمِ، فَإِنَّكَ تَقْدِرُ وَلَا أَقْدِرُ، وَتَعْلَمُ، وَلَا أَعْلَمُ، وَأَنْتَ عَلَّامُ الْغُيُوبِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا الأَمْرَ- خَيْرٌ لِي فِي دِينِي وَمَعَاشِي وَعَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِي- عَاجِلِهِ وَآجِلِهِ- فَاقْدُرْهُ لِي وَيَسِّرْهُ لِي ثُمَّ بَارِكْ لِي فِيهِ، وَإِنْ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ شَرٌّ لِي فِي دِينِي وَمَعَاشِي وَعَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِي- عَاجِلِهِ وَآجِلِهِ- فَاصْرِفْهُ عَنِّي وَاصْرِفْنِي عَنْهُ وَاقْدُرْ لِيَ الْخَيْرَ حَيْثُ كَانَ ثُمَّ أَرْضِنِي بِهِ

My sincere advise to the youth :
At this point of era of shirk and BID'A Follow the scholars who TEACHES REAL QUR'AN AND SUNNAH.
They teaches the real Islam. Quran /Sunnah.
DON'T believe there is anyone better than the PROPHET or the SAHABA of the PROPHET.
DON'T believe everything is ALLAH as some people claim.
You don't NEED to join any ISLAMIC SECT to BECOME good MUSLIM just FOLLOW the real ISLAMIC SCHOLARS who teaches QUR'AN AND SUNNAH the the teachings of the SAHABA..
Be careful with some ISLAMIC sect which they insult the sahaba of the prophet.
Be careful with a some ISLAMIC sect which they think their MALAMS are better than the prophet or the sahaba of the prophet...
Be careful with some ISLAMIC sect which they think they are better than everyone..
There is alot of PROBLEMS with all the ISLAMIC sect so follow QUR'AN AND SUNNAH.
Take ur religion serious.
May ALLAH GUIDE US ALL...
