Representatives from the Office of the Congressman Mohamad Khalid Q. Dimaporo paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Jaber M. Azis, M.D. at Office of the Mayor, Municipal Hall today, March 21, 2024.

During the courtesy visit, the Chief Representative expressed desire to support excellent progress in their commitment for sustainable development in the municipality of Matungao in behalf of Congressman Mohamad Khalid Q. Dimaporo.

Development plans for projects was also discussed for possible collaborations in the infrastructures.

On the other hand, Mayor Jaber M. Azis M.D. extended his appreciation to the Office of the Congressman Mohamad Khalid Q. Dimaporo for continued pushing for transformative projects in the Municipality of Matungao.

The Local Government Unit of Matungao (Progresibong Matungao), through the leadership of Mayor Jaber M. Azis and Vice Mayor Aisha Mangotara-Azis, received the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Award in the prestigious 2023 Seal of Good Local Governance - Awarding Ceremony conducted by the Department of the Interior and Local Government at the Manila Hotel, Philippines on December 14, 2023.

The Municipality of Matungao is among the 9 local government unit awardees from province of Lanao del Norte this year.

Mayor Jaber M. Azis personally received the SGLG award, together with Municipal Accountant Effnard S. Acmad – SGLG Focal Person, and DILG MLGOO Aminah O. Satar

The Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) is the highest recognition and the most prestigious award given by the DILG to local government units with outstanding delivery of public service.

The municipality of Matungao were able to sail through the 10 governance areas of:

(1) Financial Administration;
(2) Disaster Preparedness;
(3) Social Protection and Sensitivity;
(4) Health Compliance and Responsiveness;
(5) Sustainable Education;
(6) Business Friendliness and Competitiveness;
(7) Safety, Peace and Order;
(8) Environmental Management;
(9) Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture and Arts, and
(10) Youth Development

It’s a CHAPTER-OPENED for the tireless effort of LGU-Matungao with the unwavering commitment of Mayor Jaber M. The DILG Office of Project Development Services (OPDS) recently concluded Kwentong Tagumpay 2023: Innovative Practices in Local Infrastructure Governance.

By promoting innovation and progress in the area of local infrastructure governance, MATUNGAO, LANAO DEL NORTE (Progresibong Matungao) was recognized in the 𝗞𝘄𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯 on November 16, 2023, at the Sequioa Hotel, Manila Bay, Parañaque City.

𝙆𝙬𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙏𝙖𝙜𝙪𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙮: 𝙄𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙋𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙇𝙤𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙄𝙣𝙛𝙧𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙂𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 was a platform for Local Government Units (LGUs) to showcase innovative technological and practical developments in their delivery of basic services.

The 𝙋𝙇𝘼𝙌𝙐𝙀 𝙊𝙁 𝘼𝙋𝙋𝙍𝙀𝘾𝙄𝘼𝙏𝙄𝙊𝙉 was awarded to 𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗡𝗚𝗔𝗢, 𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗔𝗢 𝗗𝗘𝗟 𝗡𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗘 under the exemplary leadership of 𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗿 𝗝𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗠. 𝗔𝘇𝗶𝘀 and 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗮-𝗔𝘇𝗶𝘀 for showing remarkable leadership in promoting innovation and progress in the area of local infrastructure governance.

The Local Government Unit of Matungao (Progresibong Matungao) under the exemplary leadership of Mayor Jaber M. Azis and Vice Mayor Aisha Mangotara-Azis, recently won the 2nd Place for the 2023 REGIONAL SUBAYBAYANI AWARD with Special Award.

The award is given by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to LGUs which implemented exceptional service under the agency’s SubayBAYANI program.

SubayBAYAN is the official online system monitoring of the DILG that provides real-time information on the physical and financial status, as well as the information on the actual location, implementation, and other basic data of the LFPs.

The Local Government Unit of Matungao (Progresibong Matungao) was recently awarded with the Most Supportive LGU by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office – Region 10 for its invaluable support and contribution leading to the success in the implementation of department's program and service implementation for the year 2022.

The Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Troy Ereck J. Malacas received the award in behalf of Mayor Jaber M. Azis, M.D. and Vice Mayor Aisha Mangotara Azis, RN during the Social Welfare and Development Forum held at VIP Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City on July 29, 2023.

The Local Government Unit of Matungao (Progresibong Matungao) became part of all implemented programs of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in so many years of the local government and gave full support for success.

The local government of Matungao has not only been conferred of the Most Supportive LGU award, but also received recognition for exemplary performance in social services during the Gawad Paglilingkod sa Sambayanan – Awards Night in the last year.

Having garnered a total of 10.4K facebook LIKES & REACTIONS, the Matungao Agri-Aqua Booth won the PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD.

The booth presented by the Municipality of Matungao was made of woods and curated of bamboos. The booth has a coffee bar serving coffees which are locally produced in Matungao and agri products store.

The agriculture production of coffee in the municipality can compete to other coffee production as the local government of Matungao will target to develop intensive production in this agriculture. This coffee production is near to create jobs to people in the locality for huge production in the future.

The Rural Health Unit of Matungao in partnership with the Blood Bank of Amai Pakpak Medical Center successfully conducted the Blood Donation Drive 2023.

The said humanitarian activity carries the purpose in the extension activity celebration of 74th Araw ng Matungao theme on embracing progressive vision for the future. The blood donated of the good people of Matungao will give them advantage in times of their need of blood. Donating blood regularly has many health benefits not just for the receiver but for the donor as well.

This life-saving act is highly encouraged by municipal Mayor Jaber M. Azis, M.D. and Vice Mayor Aisha Mangotara-Azis, RN.

An extension of one’s life is reached when you extend a hand.

The celebration of Eid Al Adha is to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion to Allah SWT and his readiness to sacrifice his son, Ismail. At the very point of sacrifice, Allah SWT replaced Ismail with a ram, which was to be slaughtered in place of his son. This command from Allah SWT was a test of Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness and commitment to obey his Lord’s command, without question. Therefore, Eid Al Adha means the 𝙁𝙀𝙎𝙏𝙄𝙑𝘼𝙇 𝙊𝙁 𝙎𝘼𝘾𝙍𝙄𝙁𝙄𝘾𝙀.

Five students of Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Iligan Medical Center College (IMCC) finished on-the-job training thru Municipal Social Welfare & Development Office of the Local Government Unit of Matungao on May 4, 2023.

The social work students completed hours of simultaneous training in office and field work exposure including profiling in barangays of Community-Based Monitoring System of the municipality, which is a great exprience in pursuing their profession.

In an exit conference held at Azis Training Center, the interns had opportunity to share their expriences and learnings during their internship. They expressed gratitude and appreciations for providing them with an invaluable opportunity and guidance.

Attending the exit conference were Mayor Jaber M. Azis, M.D. , MSWDO Troy Ereck J. Malacas, CBMS Coordinator Raul Winston R. Lim and Iligan Medical Center College department heads.

Lanao del Norte Police Provincial Office – Provincial Director PCOL Sandy S. Vales presided over the turnover of command ceremony in the Matungao Police Station today, May 8.

The Outgoing Officer-In-Charge Police Major Pidta M. Comonog served the municipality for several times. In his dedication to serving the municipality of Matungao, the municipality has received national awards for anti-illegal drug efforts.

During the turnover rites, Comonog thanked Mayor Jaber M. Azis, M.D. for fully supporting him in the Matungao Police Station during the different operations as chief of the local police.

The new Officer-In-Charge of the Matungao Municipal Police Station is PCPT Mohaimen Mamarinta Abdulpatak from Tagoloan Municipal Police Station. Abdulpatak expressed gratitude for the trust and confidence given to him. He was advised by Provincial Director PCOL Sandy S. Vales to do what is best for the municipality of Matungao.

Mayor Jaber on his message said the municipal government will give its full support to the Matungao police force under Abdulpatak.

The Municipality of Matungao headed by Mayor Jaber M. Azis, M.D. and Vice Mayor Aisha M. Azis, RN launched “Chikiting Ligtas 2023” through the Matungao Rural Health Unit led by Dr. Aminodin D. Pamanay, M.D. held at Municipal Ground of Matungao on May 2, 2023.

The Chikiting Ligtas is a Supplemental Immunization Activity which will be held from May 1 to 31 and aims to immunize children 9 to 59 months old with Measles Rubella Vaccines and children 0 to 59 months with Oral Polio Vaccines.

Head on to your nearest rural health units and and health centers to get that jab done for your kids this Chikiting Ligtas.

Mayor Jaber M. Azis, M.D. expresses gratitude to the Department of Social Welfare and Development – Region 10, for extending livelihood assistance to 4 associations in the municipality of Matungao.

Through the Zero Hunger Program of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), the 2 associations from barangay Poblacion, 1 from barangay Batangan and barangay Matampay received a livelihood capital to establish their proposed project in their associations.

The beneficiaries of the 4 associations underwent a brief orientation on the proper implementation of the livelihood project by the DSWD SLP regional coordinators.

They are also reminded to give value to opportunities granted to them in this purpose of livelihood. The pilot testing of this program will enable them to improve their skills in livelihood to succeed.

The turnover was witnessed by the SLP Associations, the identified beneficiaries of the SLP, Mayor Jaber M. Azis, M.D., MSWDO Troy Ereck J. Malacas and DSWD Field Office (FO) X representatives.

Mayor Jaber appealed to beneficiaries to carefully implement the livelihood in their associations from the DSWD, “Dapat magtinabangay mo sa inyong grupo na masuccess mo sa inyong livelihood kay tabang ni para sa inyo gikan sa atong gobyerno. Magtinabangay mo masolve if naay mga gamay na muabot na problema para padayon inyong livelihood na gihatag sa inyo.”

This serves as a reminder for the good people of Matungao to never lose hope as the government will open doors for you to help you acquire the privilege you deserve.

The Zero Hunger initiative is part of DSWD’s SLP, a capacity building program which provides opportunities to the vulnerable, marginalized, and disadvantaged individuals, families, and communities to enhance their livelihood assets and capacity to utilize their resources more productively.

The local government of Matungao is committed to prioritize livelihood of the people as a pathway to progress.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian and DOH Officer-in-charge Secretary Ma. Rosario Singh-Vergeire graced the launching of the PMNP on Wednesday.

The PMNP (Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Program) is a four-year project spearheaded by the Government of the Philippines through its various government agencies such as the Department of Health (DOH), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the Department of Agriculture (DA), the National Nutrition Council (NNC) and the DOST-Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI).

The goal of the said project is to reduce the prevalence of malnutrition in the country by the end of the targeted year 2028.

The PMNP is funded by the World Bank which granted PHP9.7 billion to the Philippine government last year. The project will increase the availability of nutrition funds at the local level for implementation through transferring project funding directly to LGUs. The project beneficiaries will be comprised of children under five years old, as well as pregnant and lactating women.

The Municipality of Matungao (Progresibong Matungao) is glad to witness the launching as chosen recipient of the said project.

Mayor Jaber M. Azis, M.D. together with Municipal Health Officer Aminodin D. Pamanay, M.D. attended the national launching held in Manila Hotel, Manila.

𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟭𝟳, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯

Led by Mayor Jaber M. Azis and Vice Mayor Aisha M. Azis, the Local Government Unit of Matungao (Progresibong Matungao) launches the HAPAG (Halina’t Magtanim ng Prutas at Gulay) pursuant to DILG Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 2023-001 with Municipal Agriculture officer Norjanah C. Tando, MLGOO Aminah O. Satar, Chief PMaj Pidta M. Comonog, Barangay Officials and Sangguniang Bayan Members.

The HAPAG merges the Department of Agriculture and Local Government’s (DILG) for the fulfillment of PBBM administration thrust in addressing hunger and achieving food security in the country.

The HAPAG project will tap barangay officials in leading their barangay constituents to plant and produce nutritional vegetables and fruits. This project could also provide a means of income for everyone in participating barangays.

Mayor Azis said “Dili ni para sa akoa, para ning programa sa atuha tanan.” Mayor Azis encouraged the barangay officials to maintain agricultural farming programs in their barangays as it will provide unlimited benefits and opportunities for their constituents.

The barangay Sta. Cruz of Matungao received recognition from the Provincial Government in recognition of its Gulayan initiatives, ranking 5th out of 20 participating barangays and municipalities. This recognition is to encourage households and communities to produce fresh and healthy vegetables from their backyards and spaces.

As hunger continues to be a major challenge for many low-income families, HAPAG barangay project is a bridge for recovery that can provide for daily consumptions and income for everyone.

Awards have been pouring in for the Municipality of Matungao (Progresibong Matungao), Lanao del Norte.

Another national award was received by the municipality on anti-illegal drug campaign.

The National ADAC Performance Award is given to LGUs with high ADAC functionality scores, in recognition of their outstanding efforts in the performance of their duties in reinforcing the national government’s anti-illegal drug campaign.

Matungao was picked as among the awardees for having sustained the drug-free status of it’s unaffected barangays.

The award was received by Mayor Jaber M. Azis, M.D. with PMaj Pidta M. Comonog from DILG Secretary Benjamin D. Abalos Jr. with the drug boards and DILG Lanao del Norte Provincial Director Bruce A. Colao.

The awarding ceremony of the 2022 National Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) Performance Award by the Department of the Interior and Local Government was held at the Tent City, Manila Hotel on December 13, 2022.

Matungao is known for drug free municipality for years. The past and present administration shared the same goal for anti-illegal drug campaign. The treatment that leads to the elimination of drug use is the big role of their administration.

Setting goals to stay a drug free municipality of Matungao is not difficult to achieve with Mayor Jaber M. Azis and Vice Mayor Aisha Mangotara-Azis for sustaining cooperation to 12 barangays with the Matungao police.

(𝗠𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗼, 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲)

Through its Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, the Municipality of Matungao, Lanao del Norte received Gawad KALASAG Seal of Excellence from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council during the Gawad KALASAG Awarding Ceremony held at Mallberry Suites Business Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City last December 2, 2022.

Organized by the Office of Civil Defense - National Disaster Risk Reduction and Mangement Council (NDRRMC), the Gawad KALASAG (KAlamidad at Sakuna LAbanan SAriling Galing ang Kaligtasan) is an annual awarding ceremony for significant initiatives in the promotion and advancement of DRRM in the country.

The Municipality of Matungao (Progresibong Matungao) was included in the FULLY COMPLIANT seal for garnering a rating of 2.42.

The seal of excellence was received by Mayor Jaber M. Azis and MDRRMO Jalil P. Ludag for the Municipality of Matungao, Lanao del Norte.

The Municipality of Matungao (Progresibong Matungao) is found to be generally adherent to the standards for the establishment and functionality of the LDRRMCOs as prescribed in the Philippines Disaster Risk Reduction Management Act of 2010 or Republic Act No. 101021 as cited in the seal.

Another accomplishment for Progresibong Matungao through the excellence of Mayor Jaber M. Azis and Vice Mayor Aisha Mangotara-Azis.

The LGU MATUNGAO (PROGRESIBONG MATUNGAO), through its Municipal Health Office received Bronze Award from the National Nutrition Council in the 2022 Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony held at Cagayan de Oro City last November 25, 2022.

Mayor Jaber M. Azis proudly received the Circle of Excellence Bronze Award for the Municipality of Matungao, Lanao del Norte.

The municipal government with the municipal health office is awarded for their commendable performance in achieving a continuous decrease in the prevalence of stunting children based on Operation Timbang (OPT) from 2020-2022.

With this award, Progresibong Matungao is recognized for continuing to excel in the healthcare sector.

Keeping Matungao's people healthy has been Mayor Jaber M. Azis and Vice Mayor Aisha M. Azis' vision and aspirations.

The Local Government Unit of Matungao has received “Certificate of Recognition” from the Department of Social Welfare and Development of Region 10.

The recognition was given by the DSWD Region 10 with RD Ramel F. Jamen during the 𝗚𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗱 𝗣𝗮𝗴𝗹𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗸𝗼𝗱 𝘀𝗮 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗻 – 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗵t held at Chali Beach Resort, Cagayan de Oro City.

The local government was recognized for its exemplary performance in the delivery of quality, efficient, and relevant social services to its constituents, and in the adoption and implementation of programs and projects of the DSWD, enabling individuals, families, and communities to enjoy and improved quality of life.

Mr. Troy Ereck J. Malacas, the MSWDO Head received the award of recognition on behalf of Mayor Jaber M. Azis, M.D. and Vice Mayor Aisha M. Azis, RN.

Mayor Jaber said he is honored to receive such recognition emphasizing on the programs and projects implemented by their administration together with Vice Mayor Aisha.

To achieve the vision of safe and disaster-prepared municipality, the LGU Matungao - Incident Management Team undergo a 5-day Integrated Planning Course on Incident Command System for Level 2 with the Office of Civil Defense Region X at Ultrawinds Mountain Resort, Cagayan de Oro City on October 10-14, 2022.

The said training was attended by 24 employees from different offices of the Municipal Local Government Unit of Matungao.

The ICS 2 training is aligned with the integrated planning process of the Incident Command System (ICS) that is designed to allow effective collaboration among the different members of the Incident Management Team from Incident Commander to the Planning Section Chief and the Unit Leaders, namely Resource Unit, Situation Unit, Documentation Unit and Demobilization Unit.

Mayor Jaber M. Azis, M.D. together with Vice Mayor Aisha M. Azis thanked the Office of Civil Defense, through its RD Antonio B. Sugarol for providing the technical training.

LGU Matungao Mayor Jaber M. Azis, M.D. and Vice Mayor Aisha M. Azis, RN are just two LGUs with training completion of ICS Level 2 in the entire Region 10.

Program officers from the DSWD Region 10 together with Matungao Municipal Mayor Jaber M. Azis, M.D. deliver a PHP100,000 cash incentive to 104-year old Mrs. Laongan C. Abantas from barangay Batangan, Matungao, Lanao del Norte on October 3, 2022.

Mrs. Laongan C. Abantas is entitled to the Php 100,000 cash gift under the centenarian program of the national government’s Department of Social Welfare and Development.

Mayor Jaber personally went to see Mrs. Laongan C. Abantas at the Mercy Community Hospital in Iligan City, as the centenarian is about to be admitted in the hospital for medical attention. The centenarian was accompanied by her daughter in the hospital admission, who also assisted in the release of the incentive. Mrs. Abantas is the first awardee to date this year 2022 in the entire region 10.

According to Mrs. Abantas daughter, her mother withstood living through the years by keeping a healthy lifestyle.

For the information of all concern, RA 10868 otherwise known as “CENTENARIAN ACT OF 2016” is an act honoring and granting additional benefits and privileges to Filipino centenarians and for other purposes. Centenarian is all Filipinos who have reached one hundred years old and above. Topics covered in the joint meeting includes 4PS of MSWD, disaster awareness by the MDRRMO, Covid-19 vaccination and booster updates by the Municipal Health Office, illicit drugs prevention by the PNP, and the safety protocols for the upcoming Face-to-face classes of public schools under DepEd.
