Naomi was incredible!!!! As everyone entered the tent for her crystal workshop, she politely held a basket full of crystals, all various sizes, shapes and colours!

She also says at the same time ‘don’t overthink it, just pick one!’ which is definitely so true because when our brain is presented with so much choice, it automatically goes into overthinking mode trying to narrow down the selection process but instead it over complicates things!

I picked Black Obsidian which is for protection and grounding, provides support during change, repels negativity and disperses unloving thoughts and helps fight the effects of depression.

This particular crystal turns out to be very much needed in my life at the moment which perfectly displays Naomi’s relaxed approach to crystals in knowing that the crystal will find you and show themselves to you when you need them most.

This beautiful approach has made me fully and truly fall in love with the power of crystals because before the workshop I was placing way too much pressure on myself to know absolutely everything about crystals like their healing properties, their meanings and so on which ended up stripping all the joy from it.

So now I strongly implement Naomi’s approach and trust my intuition and overall connection with the individual crystal :)

Sound bath with Madhava Sounds

If you have never experienced a sound bath before I would highly recommend it!

This was my first experience of a sound bath at VLF and it was so amazing, I had a total out of body experience and became spiritually separated from my body.

I felt completely calm and weightless, it honestly was such a beautiful feeling and then as the session closed we were gently and carefully awake and reunited with our bodies.

Finding your voice workshop at VLF

Wow what an experience brilliantly lead by Amanda! We all sat in a circle together and instantly created a safe space for one another.

We began with a icebreaker style exercise, by bouncing up and down on our toes and using the sound related to our different chakras and then using that to express laughter.

Afterwards we all took a seat, really anchored ourselves into the Mother Earth and become grounded.

Next we used those same sounds but in a different way, through humming and chanting, the sensation of everyone’s power and energy through using their own voice was certainly something else.

Amanda suggested at the beginning of the workshop that if anyone wanted to go into the centre of the circle, she would highly recommend it! So I did! I have never experienced anything like it!

Going to continue working on finding my voice and building its strength and boldness!

The challenge for happiness?

Write yourself a list of the things that you know make you feel better and then slowly integrate them into your everyday.

Here are some of the things that help me:

🧘🏻‍♀️ Practicing yoga everyday helps me connect my mind, body and spirit into one in tune unit.

🎧 Listening to a podcast everyday helps me to quieten down my mind.

📖 Reading at least 10 pages a day allows me some relaxation time for my mind and rest time for my body.

🙏🏻 Meditating allows me to really focus on my feelings, thoughts and emotions in a controlled and safe way.

Ask yourself this: If I could say one word to the world, if I knew the world was listening attentively and would to the best of its ability follow the direction this word sent out.

What would that word be?
What internal habit or attitude or tendency repeatedly robs your life of joy?
Why is your word not something you can do well and something that comes naturally to you?

Because we cannot teach what we never had to learn and we learn the most where we have to stay conscious in order to learn. Don’t force it, your word will come to you!

SPOT, STOP & SWAP?

SPOT a feeling or issue
STOP to understand what it is
SWAP in a new way of processing

The first and probably the most important step is to try and spot the negative feeling or issue as it arises.

Then once you have identified it, take the time and space to allow yourself the opportunity to really fully stop and evaluate the difficulties that these feelings have stirred up for you and how they are truly impacting upon you.

Finally, it is all about breaking through bad habits you have formed over time to either totally ignore or numb your real raw feelings maybe because you think you can’t deal with them right now or you fear they are too painful to process.

It is time to swap to more healthy coping mechanisms or strategies to be able to confidently process instead of suppressing your emotions.

Other suggestions: journaling, meditating, draw how you feel, make a gratitude list, punch a pillow, let yourself cry, scream, rip up paper into tiny pieces.

Did you know there are four different levels of trust?

Level 1: Neutral Trust meaning there are positive qualities that don’t necessarily merit trust.

Level 2: Contractual Trust meaning it’s a case of I’ll scratch your back if you scratch mine.

Level 3: Mutual Trust meaning that the bond goes both ways and there is an unsaid agreement that you will be there for each other now and in the future.

Level 4: Pure Trust meaning that no matter what happens you’ll have each other’s backs!

You don’t have to implement an all or nothing approach when it comes to trusting others. Which I think is the most often and damaging mistake made because I know for a fact that I have made the very same error and I never personally realised there was actually different types or stages of trust which allows you the option of choosing the appropriate level of trust that is most suitable for the connection or relationship in question.

Because at the end of the day you wouldn’t allocate the same level of trust to your bestie as you would to a complete stranger now would you?

Do you celebrate your wins?

It is so important to celebrate your wins whether big or small because sometimes we dismiss things that were actually quite significant and monumental at the time as we are too quick to move onto or even get distracted by the next new challenge or difficulty that has appeared in our lives.

But please take the conscious time and space to be able to reflect on what you have received and learnt throughout the experience!

Often we are too eager to dismiss or play down what we have gone through. But it should be acknowledged, processed and reflected upon to be able to use them as life lessons.

Honour, congratulate and celebrate yourself and your achievements!!!!!

I find it very ironic being awarded a hero medal from Samaritans for raising £150+ in the 70 miles challenge in March!

The volunteers and the whole charity of Samaritans are the true and absolute heroes for endlessly providing the life saving 24/7 listening service!!!!!!

It honestly makes such a difference knowing that there always will be a kind person on the other end of the line waiting and wanting to hear you and what you are experiencing in that moment you dial.

I know whenever I have called their number in the past, I have been overcome with negative thoughts even suicidal ones that truly scared me to my absolute core.

That call often if not always, delivered a much needed source of hope and majorly helped to clarify my thoughts and release them to create a more healthy headspace.

I will continue to recommend and promote this vital listening service because I know from personal experience that Samaritans really do make such a positive difference in so many people’s lives!

A mindfulness exercise example from my therapist.

To start with, visualise being at a train station, the train rolling in and then boarding the carriage but while on the train you realise as it is hurling down the tracks on this same thought and you don’t like the direction it is heading.

After realising this, you decide that you wish not to continue experiencing the negativity caused, you can just choose to get off at the next available stop. It might feel like it at the time but you are not stuck on your runaway train of thought!!!!

True ‘adulthood’ kicks in…..

Around the age of 25 because we have endured all the levels of school being both primary and secondary followed by going to university to achieve an degree that will not guarantee a job in your trained field at the end of it but one thing you can be guaranteed about is, you will be in a whole load of university fee debts without absolutely no results to show for it!

With this hard hitting reality blow, we decide to settle for the first job opportunity that appears as vacant and then that’s when the viciously repetitive cycle of working for a living being work, eat, sleep and repeat begins and seems never ending!

We may not get actually buried until the age of 75, but if we really look deeply into the eyes of our fellow human beings, we will be haunted to discover that too many of us have died inside long before, our soul, spirit and creativity destroyed by the conditioning of society and the government.

By selling us all this lie about relentlessly working until the outrageous age of 66 to be able to retire and enjoy our freedom finally, as being acceptable and the norm!!!!!

Start truly living now guys before it is too late! Not every day is guaranteed. Let alone your retirement fund!!!!!!

That the problem is rarely the problem!

What I mean by that is, 99% of the harm is caused in our heads by our thoughts. It takes out that only a mere 1% of the harm is caused by reality what actually happens and the overall outcome. Most of the time, the problem isn’t the problem, the way you think about the problem is!

The definition of work-life balance is having the convenience of being able to manage a personal life during the work day without the hassle of having to get permission or explain your activities to others.

Does that sound like your job?

I’m guessing the answer is no, NOT EVEN CLOSE!!!!

As most jobs nowadays, want you either chained to the desk, till or shop floor!

Having to ask permission for the simple things like:

🚺 To go to the toilet.
📞 To take a personal call.

And you are told:

⏰ When you have to start work.
⏰ When you are allowed to finish your shift.
⏰ When you are scheduled to take your lunch or break time.

That doesn’t sound like balance to me, it sounds more like CONTROL and being OWNED by your employer!!!

Trusting is no easy task?!

Putting your trust into forces that are outside of your control such as the universe or other people can be very daunting, especially if you have had that trust bond broken hurtfully.

I don’t know if you have fallen into one or both of these traps, either you trust other people too easily or you withhold your trust completely from everyone. The truth is neither of these extremes are going to serve you well in the long term.

You almost have to teach yourself and learn all over again how to trust in the unpredictable.

What I have come to realise is the most significant and vital bond of trust you can build is with yourself!!!!

How to grow a trusting relationship with yourself:

🙌🏻 Listen to your own intuition.

🙌🏻 Work through past traumas.

🙌🏻 Manage your emotional reactions and behaviours.

🙌🏻 Know that you are always your centre and place of safety.

🙌🏻 Understand that you are not personally responsible for other people’s reactions or behaviours.

Mental health Mondays new morning routine suggestion!

Try implementing these four easy but super effective steps once you are awake.

THANKFULNESS: Firstly starting your day off on a good, positive and thankful note is so incredibly powerful!

📝 Write down 3-5 things that happened the day before or surround you currently that you are grateful for. Expressing gratitude helps to put you in a place of thanks and therefore able to acknowledge how fortunate you really are.

INSIGHT: 📚 It is so beneficial to have a steady and constant flow of input whether that is through reading the newspaper or a book because it allows you to see things from a different perspective.

MEDITATION: 🧘🏻‍♀️ Spending around just 10-15 minutes of mindfulness mediating can really help to clear your busy headspace and allow yourself to enter the beginning of your day with calming clarity!

EXERCISE: 🏃🏻‍♀️Now that you have cleared your mind, it is time to move your body and stretch all your joints and muscles to really wake yourself up! Try some yoga or basic stretches doesn’t need to be any heavyweight exercise.

Can changing your environment, change your mindset?

Absolutely it can!!!!

For example, this very Peace Lily plant is now blooming again in its new home!

So I was given this lovely plant as a house warming present after I had bought my very own flat. It was in great condition and had many gorgeous flowers on it! The houseplant took pride of plant in the kitchen window.

But as the years passed by….

The plant began to suffer in silence due to being surrounded by a negative atmosphere and it slowly affected its growth and mentality because for at least 4 years there were no flowers at all and the leaves even started to turn brown!!!!

It was the same for me during this time, I was slowly wilting away!

But now that I have changed my environment and living full time in my van! 🚐 ❤️
