I love Inanna story of descent and rebirth that can apply to so many of us through times of rebirth. Inanna is a Mesopotanian Goddess that is also known as Ishtar. When she goes to hell to visit her sister, the Queen of hell, for her husband's death. Ereshkigal, her sister and queen of hell, is upset about her audacity in short so demands her to be stripped of her magical clothes at each gate.
First Gate - (Crown):
Item Removed: Crown
Symbolism: The Crown Chakra represents divine connection and spiritual awareness. Removing the crown signifies the surrender of her divine authority and spiritual identity, initiating the journey from the highest state of consciousness downwards.
Second Gate - (Third Eye):
Item Removed: Necklace
Symbolism: The Third Eye Chakra is associated with intuition and insight. Removing the necklace, which lies close to the throat and heart, indicates relinquishing spiritual insights and higher understanding, stepping into deeper layers of inner perception.
Third Gate - (Throat):
Item Removed: Breastplate (Come, man, come)
Symbolism: The Throat Chakra represents communication and self-expression. Removing the breastplate, which covers the chest, symbolizes giving up her ability to communicate her power and emotional strength, embracing vulnerability.
Fourth Gate - (Heart):
Item Removed: Gold Rings from her wrists and ankles
Symbolism: The Heart Chakra is the center of love and compassion. Removing the gold rings, associated with wealth and adornment, represents the release of attachments to physical possessions and external validations of love and worth.
Fifth Gate - (Solar Plexus):
Item Removed: Measuring Rod and Line
Symbolism: The Solar Plexus Chakra relates to personal power and control. Removing the measuring rod and line, tools of judgment and control, signifies surrendering her will and the need to dominate or control her environment.
Sixth Gate - (Sacral):
Item Removed: Lapis Lazuli Breastplate
Symbolism: The Sacral Chakra governs creativity and sensuality. The removal of the lapis lazuli breastplate, which enhances beauty and attraction, indicates letting go of her sensuality and creative power, moving towards a more primal state of being.
Seventh Gate - (Root):
Item Removed: Royal Robe
Symbolism: The Root Chakra represents basic survival and grounding. Removing her royal robe, the last layer of her societal identity and status, symbolizes the complete surrender of her physical existence and ego, grounding her into the raw essence of being.
She arrives at the end naked and Ereshkigal strikes her dead and hangs her rotting co**se on the wall. After 3 days and 3 nights. Her servant and best friend found favor with her Grandfather and he created two beings of mud to rescue her. They assisted Ereshkigal through her birth by validating her pain and she releases Inanna body as a gift.
By aligning Inanna’s descent with the chakra system, each gate symbolizes the relinquishment of different layers of ego, identity, and power associated with the respective chakra. This journey reflects a profound inner transformation, moving from the higher states of spiritual consciousness down to the primal essence of existence, ultimately leading to rebirth and renewal.
