Unsettled: Journeys in Truth and Conciliation Unsettled: Journeys in Truth & Conciliation charts a path forward for Canada as a nation of nations. Certain behaviours and content are welcome here.

Community Code of Conduct

Unsettled: Journeys in Truth and Conciliation is an independent podcast dedicated to building bridges between Indigenous, settler, and newcomer peoples in Canada. This public page represents, develops, teaches, encourages, and supports a community of listeners and others who are similarly inclined. Others are not. Our Foundational Beliefs
• Canada needs to understand and

redress past and present wrongs and inequities perpetrated against its Indigenous peoples.
• These wrongs and inequities continue to harm Indigenous peoples, families, and communities.
• When we share knowledge, ideas, and stories about truth and conciliation, we create paths forward for us all. If you disagree with the above—and you’re not interested in modifying your opinion or learning more about what our podcast explores—this page is not for you. Do
• Treat everyone with respect—including commenters you disagree with.
• Expand upon posts or comments made by others.
• Express your like, love, displeasure, etc., by clicking on a Facebook reaction button.
• Ask relevant and genuine questions of each other and the administrators.
• Agree or disagree with points made by others and explain your position.
• Critique or review a posted episode or the podcast itself.
• Suggest further reading or other resources for the community.
• Share knowledge and stories.
• Like our page.
• Share our posts and tag friends.
• Adhere to Facebook’s Terms of Service and Community Standards, even those not specified here. Do Not
• Troll, bully, name call, or otherwise attack.
• Engage in hate speech, promote violence, or write anything obscene or illegal.
• Swear excessively. The occasional expletive is OK, but it’s better, we believe, to avoid swearing all together.
• Go on and on and on (i.e., insist on getting in the last word). When it’s clear a thread’s comments and responses are no longer productive, move on.
• Promote or link to sites, services, or products that contravene this Code of Conduct or Facebook’s Terms of Service.
• Spam the community to sell products. (See Promotional Consideration)

Grey Area
We accept that some generalizing about identifiable groups is inevitable in life. That’s especially true on pages like this one, because we actively distinguish between different peoples in Canada. However, when generalizations become destructive stereotypes, we draw the line. Corrective Actions of Administrators
Facebook does not allow us to turn off comments. But we can—and do—delete specific comments when they do not conform to our Code of Conduct. We can also block specific Facebook users from the page. We’ll do that if you become a serial offender or post a comment that’s particularly vile. What About Free Speech? We have the right to develop this platform in the spirit of the podcast it supports. Deciding what is and is not appropriate is included within that right. None of this is an attack on your right to say what you want. You can exercise free speech—elsewhere. Promotional Consideration
If you like, you can put appropriate links within the comment section of a specific post. However, a more effective route may be to message your link to us and suggest that we post it on the main feed. Click on the Messenger icon in the About section of the page. If we agree your link is right for our audience, we will promote it. News items, non-profit activities, and coming events are given priority. On rare occasions and at the administrators’ discretion, we may promote a product or for-profit service. The acceptance bar for these items, however, is especially high. Do not post these as comments—they will almost always be deleted. Final Notes
This page and this Code of Conduct are evolving things. Therefore, we reserve the right to change the code anytime and for any reason, without notice. We realize that much of this code requires interpretation, so we also reserve the right to do exactly that: interpret. In applying this code, we will do our best to be consistent and fair.

Cohosts Jessica Vandenberghe and George Lee share their podcasting story on October 8, during a Love 2024 Truth Talk.
This free online event features a bit of semi-scripted banter between the two speakers, plus a Q&A session to round things out.
The event takes place at 10 a.m. MDT on October 8—but it's only one of literally weeks of events taking place during Love 2024, a multiplatform, online extravaganza connecting Indigenous and non-Indigenous people through art shows, talks and the Superstar X Magazine.
The goal is to promote healing and actionable steps toward (re)conciliation across Turtle Island.
Love 2024 launches on Monday, Canada's National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

How's that podcasting thing working out? The cohosts tell all on October 8, as the experiment nears the end of its fourth season.

Listen now to our chat with Nicole Weatherly, as she ties her personal journey to the launch of Love 2024: An (Un)Learning Summit on Truth and (Re)Conciliation.
Nicole's Superstar X online universe is a multi-platform celebration of the full spectrum of humanity within Canada's Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities.
Season 4 Episode 6 serves as a plug for Love 2024—which kicks off on Monday, September 30, Canada's National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
But it's also a discussion of some of the delicate subjects close to the surface of any exploration of the Truth and Reconciliation process in the many nations that make up this broad northern swath of Turtle Island.

In this episode of UJTC, Nicole Weatherly discusses her dedication to celebrating and destigmatizing the full spectrum of humanness.
