VIEW VIEW Magazine is an independent tightly-curated photography magazine.

The zine exhibits a wide variety of topics and styles. “Views”, a portfolio review of mostly unsung, talented photographers (many of whom I found on the web) whose simple passion for looking is exciting; “Projects”, which highlights some long-term assignments or personal passions; “Quotes”, our sincere attempt to introduce text on the subject by some great writers; “While You Were Away” which expl

ores a different place of conflict in the world - starting with Palestine - through the unique perspective of people on the ground in whatever capacity they find themselves in; and our “Overview” section, which includes an information-graphics map displaying stats about this issue’s contributors, our short manifesto and ways to connect with us online. The first issue of View for the iPad is now available as a free download from the App store.

In celebration of the relaunch of VIEW Magazine as a website, I’d like to highlight some photographers from our previous ten issues.

Starting with Joël Tettamanti, a Swiss photographer and a wonderful observer of details, large and small. See his work here:
http://viewphotomag.com/view-1/joel-tettamanti/

Somewhere Here Joël Tettamanti is a Swiss photographer. He is a traveller and an observer best known for photography that visually represent abstract parameters such as emptiness, width and longing and for ironic juxtaposition of man-made with nature, often bringing humour to his photographs in this…

I am happy to announce that VIEW Magazine is now available online, as a responsive website - instead of a dedicated iOS app.

This change also brings back all previous issues, from 1 to 10, with no exceptions. http://viewphotomag.com/

We are now working on the 11th issue.

Why this change? A couple of reasons but mainly a combination of circumstances - publishing an iPad app is a time consuming effort which can also get expensive. At the same time, in the last few years web publishing and responsive design (one that fits a variety of screen sizes, from small to large) have improved so much that websites can be enjoyed comfortably on various devices, with minimum sacrifice.

Please enjoy and spread the word with your friends and photography lovers - VIEW Magazine is now a web publication!

13/02/2015

Dear VIEWers,

I wanted to let you know that today is the last day to download our VIEW Magazine iOS app. If you download it today (before midnight eastern time) you can get all the existing issues (number 5 to 10) and keep them on your iPad, they will not be removed. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/view-magazine/id422061173?mt=8

This is a change in direction for us, not the end of publishing VIEW. For a variety of reasons, we decided to to create a web version of VIEW Magazine instead of the app, which we will launch soon. In the near future you will able to browse all past ten issues, some that were missing from the app for a long time. Once the site is up and running we will proceed with publishing new issues on the website. The new site will be a responsive website that will work on various devices and screen sizes. I believe this direction will allow us to better focus on finding and sharing beautiful photography and art works in the months to come.

So, if you didn’t download previous issues on the app, now is the time. Otherwise, in a slightly different format, all the work will be shown on our revamped website very soon.

Wishing all our viewers/readers a very Happy New Year. Here's to more thoughtful and beautiful photography in 2015!

Happy First of May! I am pleased to announce that the 9th issue of VIEW is now available.

In this issue I think we have achieved such a wide selection that it is a testimony to the power photography can have on us to open (or change) our minds.

This is an issue to soak in section by section, image by image; to reflect on what we do as artists and humans and enjoy what the world around us doesn’t cease to provide - endless inspiration to so many talented people.

Enjoy!

Happy Thanksgiving! Today we made our latest iPad app available for sale on the App Store.

http://is.gd/continuumipad

Continuum is featuring the beautiful work of photographer Chris Dorley Brown. Excerpts from Continuum were first published as Spot The Difference in the 6th edition of VIEW Magazine.

This interactive book provides an especially fitting means of experiencing this exceptional photographer’s particular view into the ways in which streets, buildings and people change over time. By tapping the subtle icon in the lower-left corner the “before” image fades into the “after” image. Tap repeatedly to toggle back and forth through time. Scroll vertically to see both photos side by side, the years they were shot, and the photos’ caption.

The book includes sixty pairs, or one hundred and twenty photographs, as well as a beautiful essay on this work by writer Stewart Home.

Facebook keep asking me to write "what are we up to?" – well, here goes.

We are busy updating VIEW to show content in full screen, without the iOS bar that is currently at the top of the screen. So the next issue will have 20 extra pixels of imagery without any distractions!

Making the magazine full screen will also allow us to re-format and re-release previous issues. Issue 5 is almost ready, issue 6 has already been converted to full screen, and issue 7 is in the works - with some great photographers in it!

An app update will be coming soon, and after that issue 7 will be available. Great photos and a free download. Please share VIEW with friends and colleagues, let them know about us.

For those of you using Flickr, they announced some new features today as well as a more streamlined Photostream page. New features are listed here: http://www.flickr.com/new/

Flickr is almost certainly the best online photo management and sharing application in the world. Show off your favorite photos and videos to the world, securely and privately show content to your friends and family, or blog the photos and videos you take with a cameraphone.
