HEALTH SCREENING OF SCHOOL STUDENTS AT VILGAM

Continuing the effort to connect with people in Vilgam Area, Kakrosa Army Camp organized a lecture cm health screening of students in collaboration with PHE, Vilgam at Light House Public School today.

Programme commenced with lecture by Regimental Medical Officer, Vilgam Battalion followed by screening of children for growth abnormalities, skin issues, Eye, ENT and Dental problems. A total of two doctors from PHC, Vilgam and 02 doctors from Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), Srinagar attended the health screening event. Necessary advice and suggestions were explained to teachers and children. First aid kit was also distributed to the school. Medically ill children were provided with basic medical aid in the form of essential medicines, ointments, tablets and syrups.

A total of 210 students including 82 girls and 128 boys participated in the health screening. Apart from children, 12 teachers and 06 staff members also took part in the event.

DC Kupwara Ayushi Sudan pays visit of SDH Tangdhar
Kupwara, June 30: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan today paid a visit to Sub District Hospital, Tangdhar to take stock of the facilities being provided to the patients.

The DC inspected various wards, held interaction with patients and enquired about the facilities being provided to them from Hospital Administration.
The Deputy Commisioner inspected various sections of the hospital including OPD, Emergency, X-Ray section, Labour room, Labs, dental section and IPD wards and checked the duty roaster of the doctors and hospital staff.

The DC also interacted with the doctors and medical staff and directed them to work with more dedication and ensure that all the patients especially coming from far flung areas of Karnah are provided better healthcare facilities.
The Deputy Commisioner was accompanied by SDM Tangdhar, Dr. Gulzar Ahamd Rather;Tehsildar Tangdhar, Eyad Qadri;District Information officer Kupwara, Mudasser Sikandar; and BMO Tangdhar Dr.Farooq Ahamd Qureshi.

_*Lets Nurture The Nature So That We Can Have A Bright Future*_

World Environment Day (WED) is celebrated annually on 5 June and it encourages awareness and action for the protection of the environment.

Magam Army Camp organised an event on the occasion of *World Environment Day* at Govt Middle School, Kawari. The event commenced with a speech by Headmaster of the School to spread awareness regarding WED and thereafter selected students & teachers went for planting saplings in school premises. A total of *25 saplings* of various variety of plants to include deodar, rose, snowball, Japanese Banana,Jiniya and calendula were planted which in due course of time will definitely enhance its flora.

Thereafter *108 students and 12 teachers* took a pledge to inculcate long term environment friendly habits and continuously participate in taking up environmental lifestyle.

Subsequently *a speech and drawing competition* was conducted wherein students from nearby schools also participated and comprehensively covered the theme of *World Environment Day 2023, that is, Beat Plastic Pollution* and its various associated aspects.

*12 students* participated in *Drawing competition* whereas *Six students* participated in *Elocution competition* and after close assessment of their performances by Judges, Miss Aimen Nissar and Miss Nusrat Gani
were declared best speaker and best in drawing respectively. Both the winners were felicitated with medals.

*Lecture on water conservation day carried out at Chak Kigam*

Indian Army organised a lecture on *Water Conservation* at *Chak Keegam* on the account of *Water Conservation Day*.

The event was attended by *80 locals* including men, women and children and lecture was conducted by officials from PHE department. The idea behind the event was to create awareness among locals about the conservation of natural resources. Maintaining a safe and clean environment is the responsibility of mankind as the earth provides all necessities for life including water, air, trees, animals, food, soil and minerals.

The activity received an overwhelming response from the locals. They appreciated the Indian army and said such lecture will help and motivate people to conserve water which is the most precious resource.
