Duleek’s Calum Agnew won the Hot Press ‘A New Local Hero’ prize after competing against five other national finalists. A New Local Hero is part of Irish Music Month, an initiative from Hot Press and the Independent Broadcasters of Ireland funded by Coimisiún na Meán. It aims to support Irish artists with funding for the project being over €100,000. The finals took place at a live event at The Academy in Dublin which included a special guest performance from Tolü Makay....

This brings the total funds raised by Cannonball for Irish children’s charities to nearly €2 million. Several football girls teams in Meath have been left without a football league this year due to a bureaucratic problem after the Metropolitan Girls League (MGL) collapsed. Girls teams from Balrath Girls and Boys, East Meath United, Laytown United were denied league football due to a bureaucratic anomaly which saw them apply late to the Dublin & District Schoolboys/girls League. Approximately 400 girls across the three Meath clubs are affected by this and currently have no league to play in....

It is a long time since I sat in an exam hall, so I wanted to have a chapter in my book ‘How to ACE the Junior and Leaving Certificate’ where student opinions were aired, and feedback was relevant. I have surveyed sixty existing sixth years for their first-hand experience, asking them to think back to how they were feeling and their approach to the Junior Cycle exams; what they did right, what they could have done better, big mistakes and importantly what they learned as they approached their final year....

A new pilot project, Zero Tolerance Meath was launched aims to build capacity to prevent Domestic, Sexual, and Gender-Based Violence (DSGBV) in County Meath. Over the next three years, this project will use a community-led approach to prevent and respond to DSGBV, hoping to create a safer community for all women and girls. The project is led by Meath Women’s Refuge and Support Services, with funding from CUAN, and is being evaluated by Maynooth University....

This cycle and pedestrian scheme was to focus on safe cycling infrastructure across Ratoath, but funding has been temporarily pulled for reasons unknown at this time as Meath County Council has not received as high an allocation of funds from the Department of Transport....

Stroke patients in Meath are being encouraged to join a series of free talks designed to support their recovery. Three webinars organised by the national stroke and heart charity, the Irish Heart Foundation, will focus on fatigue, trauma and personal experience. TFI Local Link introduced a new bus service, route 186, between Cavan and Kells via Baile Ghib last month. The new Route will service Baile Ghib, Kells, Moynalty, Mullagh, Virginia, Ballyjamesduff, and Cross Keys. It will provide six daily return services to Kells, including three return trips from Monday to Thursday that extend to Baile Ghib. On Fridays and Saturdays, there will be eight daily return services, four of which will extend to Baile Ghib....
