DEPRAVED INDIFFERENCE: Father allegedly b£ats his 2-month-old son with hanger in Imo for disturbing his sleep, breaks the baby's arm leading to amputation

The National Human Right Commission (NHRC) and the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Imo State chapter have called on the Imo State Government and the Nigeria Police Force to immediately arrest and prosecute one Mr Confidence Amatobi, for allegedly assaulting his 2-month-old baby, Miracle.

Mr Amatobi was said to have assaulted little Miracle with a plastic hanger and broke the baby's arm for disturbing his sleep.

The incident led to the amputation of the fractured arm at the Pediatrics ward of the Federal Medical Centre, FMC Owerri.

NAWOJ, NHRC and the aggrieved mother of baby Miracle, made the call for justice in Owerri the Imo State Capital.

Imo State Chairperson of NAWOJ, Dr Dorothy Nnaji who spoke to newsmen after visiting the amputated boy at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Owerri, confirmed that the injury inflicted by the 31-year-old father, a native of Amurie in Isu LGA of the state, led to the amputation of the little boy’s right hand.

Mrs Nnaji who frowned at the dastardly cruel act of Mr Amatobi expressed shock that a father could assault his innocent child simply because he was crying and disturbing his sleep.

She disclosed that Mr Amatobi was reported to have repeatedly hit the baby with a plastic hanger to stop him from crying until the right hand broke.

"The perpetrator, Mr. Confidence Amatobi, who hails from Amurie in Isu L.G.A used a plastic hanger on the baby, simply because he was crying that the 20-year-old mother left to ease herself. He used wood and elastic bands to tie the baby's hand when he saw that hand was broken and swollen," Mrs Nnaji said.

"He locked the mother and baby to prevent her from talking to neighbours or seeking help. He also took her phone from her. After two days she found her way out and sought help from her neighbours. The guy was arrested by a vigilante but he escaped. By the time help came, the baby's hand was already decayed. The only option was to cut off baby Miracle's right hand from shoulder,"

I tried to avoid doing this because of how i was raised and because of my boys, but i have been pushed and it is time for the world to hear my voice and my side of story.

I was depressed and almost gave up but God Saved me.

I was still married to Mr Obarijima but he spoils my name to friends,family members, co workers and church members the ones that believed him did and pushed me away and did more harm to my situation.

A lot happened to me then i decided to take that bold step not minding what the world will say, because i have every reason to stay alive if not for anything for my boys so i left the marriage to stay alive but my life is being threatened by this Vampires till now and my business is also being threatened he said he will kill me and destroy my business and bring me down.

I want the world to be on the know am not scared of Obarijima Yorgba because his not my God and if he tries to hurt me or my boys again my God will kill him for every pain he made me went through in his house Obarijima will suffer, for my blood he constantly spill it will speak against him and everyone his working with let the judgement of God befall them from today.

BREAKING: Kuje prison under bomb attack

Kuje Medium Prison on Tuesday night came under heavy bombardments by unknown terrorists, throwing the entire area Council into confusion.
The first explosion, a high capacity bomb, went off around 10.25pm. It was followed by second and third blast and sporadic gunshots that left the residents scampering into safety.
Few hours earlier, security report had alerted the prison officials of possible attacks of the medium prison.
A prison staff, who confirmed the attack in a chat with Daily Sun, explained that the attackers had come from the back of the prison yard.

A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain and Anambra indigene Chief Chris Uba, has described former governor Peter Obi as one the stingiest persons he has met. Uba passed the verdict when Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State hosted the meeting of the party.

Not impressed by the quality of champagne presented to them by the host, Chief Uba, in the presence of Obi said jokingly that the meeting deserved better champagne and wine and not the type Obi served them when he was governor.

Chris Uba recounted one of his several encounters with Obi at Government House, Awka when the latter was governor.

He said Obi served guests with champagne “Obele ego” and the quality of wine meant for students and when anybody complained, he would reply by saying that Government House was not a bar or restaurant.
