LETHIWE & SISANDA'S SANITARY AND CLOTHING DRIVE SETS OFF

BY: NONTOBEKO MATHABA

LETHIWE Chiliza(21) in partnership with Sisanda have undertaken a sanitary and clothing drive initiative that seeks to alleviate the challenges faced by under privileged school children by handing out donations to schools in their hometown, Mandeni, KZN.

For the longest time young girls have been placed at a disadvantage and fall victim to not having access to menstrual products, causing them to miss school when menstruating. Poor access to good quality uniform also continues to affect the attendance of learners in school. This is because underprivilged learners are often subjected to mockery.

Lethiwe has always been passionate about opening an NPO in order to reach out and help those in need. She shared to have once experienced being one of the girls that end up resorting to using inappropriate unhygienic items such as toilet paper as pads due to not having funds to buy sanitary towels.

"This was a devastating experience for me. I therefore took a decision that if it happens that one day I have the means to interven in such situations, I will, so this is me keeping my word" says Lethiwe.

However , we still need your help to make this programme a success. Those looking forward to donate to Lethiwe's drive can contact her on FB: Lethiwe Chiliza
