First 60 Minute Review: Grounded
So, there has been a bit of delay on the Shoppe Keep, visa vi the in progress editing becoming corrupted and me being lazy. So, here is another First 60 Minute Review, this one being about Grounded.
I actually had quite a bit of fun with this one. It was beautiful to walk around the same size as an ant, basically.
Let's start with the negatives so we can end on a good note!
Thirst: Thirst was way too big of a problem. It went down way to fast and was way too hard to find clean water/juice to drink. Without the Dew Collector, it's really hard to find this stuff. I couldn't find any on grass except for the at beginning. Now, food did go down just as much, but I was able to find food a lot easier. It ended up coming to the point where I would drink the dirty water, then just eat, and it would hardly matter. At one point, I had over 30 mushrooms, and ended my session 20 minutes later with 25, without picking up any additional.
Lack of Direction: You aren't given any real information on what to do. Now, I don't want the game to hold my hand through everything, but a touch of guidance would be nice. Something like, how to get the materials needed. You are left to figure everything out without anything being fully told.
Default Video Settings: Motion Blur was on by default. I hate when this setting is on by default. It is not how real life looks, and it just hurts to look at.
That's really it for all I think are the negatives, now onto the positives!
Scenery: It is a beautiful game. I would put it up against Red Dead Redemption 2 for looks. Now, it is in a different style, but it is not a bad style. They really got it looking nice. Colours are vibrant and match wonderfully.
Navigation: You always have a view on the borders of the map, so you are never unsure of where you are. It's a great feeling to have a general idea of the way you need to go. I placed my base near a laser that was near the house. This allowed me to always know the general direction I needed to go, yet never having me feel like I was being pointed the way I had to go. I felt like I was truly exploring and hardly opened up the map.
Combat: The Combat was a little simple, but that works for this game. I mean, you are playing as a child, and combat for them would be basic, but it still felt good.
Building: The building was quick and easy, with a little trouble with the actual rotate.
Insects and the like: They are done amazingly! They look great, move great, and when they are attacking, they are terrifying. Especially the Wolf Spider.
Stability: For a "Pre-full release Game" it is really stable and I didn't encounter any troubles with it!
That really all I have to say about Grounded! Overall, I would rate it a 7/10. The water issue is a BIG issue in my eyes, if that was fixed it would easily be brought up to an 8.5-9/10. Hopefully we can see some tweaking in some updates!
Let me know what game you want me to review next!
