"A Well-Known Secret:" - An Easter Poem

In this life, there’s so much fear,
An abundance of strife, and shedding of tears.
Hope seems hidden, or forbidden,
The path of despair, the most ridden,
As the perceived end of living nears.

But there’s a well-known secret, I’d like to dare to share,
That we have a generous God, who watches us with care.
We are His spirit children, with a Mother up above,
In our tender infancy, They shower us with love.
The hollow shouts of men, cannot be thought to be compared,
To this eternal truth, of which angels boldly declare.

With this our unchangeable familial connection,
Our Heavenly Father sent His physical son,
Jesus Christ, the begotten one,
To pay our debts of imperfection,
And rise in wondrous resurrection.

Without blemish His life was spent,
Helping others, a Holy Testament.
Healing and teaching, His love never frayed,
Even though He was betrayed.
He is our Hope, and our Redemption,
To the phrase “Nobody’s Perfect,”
He lives, the only exception.

And now there’s too much human sorrow,
To choose to change ourselves tomorrow,
Let’s start today,
And do it His way,
There’s plenty of His love,
To give, and to borrow.

So if you feel the confines, of imperfection’s jail,
Know that you can choose to improve,
And that mountains you can move.
Only the unchanged will fail, all others shall prevail,
We must continue heavenward, on progression’s rising trail.

Only He can loose your oppressive bands,
So thaw your heart and open your eyes,
Reach out and take His hand,
In Him Truth lives, and perisheth all lies,
He’ll lead you to the Promised Land.

He overcame the sunken grave,
For all mankind He died to save,
His perfect life,
A divine sacrifice,
We must also be as brave.

In this cause, we must not delay,
For in us, evil cannot stay,
Make haste, stay the course,
And we will arise without remorse,
As He did, on that Glorious Day.

So as Death and Despair lie below, downtrodden in defeat,
Eternal Victory’s celestial song, forever shall repeat:
Choose the right, choose heaven’s light,
Follow your Savior’s perfect feet.

ABORTION -- Important takeaways from Elder Neil L. Andersen's talk:

(1) Human life is ALWAYS sacred.

(2) There are certain circumstances when an abortion STILL respects the sanctity of human life.

(3) It is ALWAYS our responsibility to do all we can to lift up and support pregnant women, supporting them in being able to give the child life, and AFTER BIRTH, by CONTINUING to help that woman and child with their needs to progress through life.

(4) It is NEVER our place to judge a woman who chooses an abortion. We must ALWAYS, and ONLY, show LOVE.

As with the human family in general, it is a special thing to see different groups of people coming together to celebrate something that strongly unites them, rather than just focusing on their differences. That is exactly what Jesus Christ's life and sacrifice is about, that even though we are different, everyone is equally worthy of love. :)

Utah Christians take to the streets for a Good Friday Procession of the Cross through downtown Salt Lake City. Last year's event was canceled due to the pandemic. This year, with vaccinations on the rise and warm temperatures in the air, the interfaith march carried new hope this Easter season.
