Shawn is a ballroom dance teacher with close to 20 years of experience teaching ballroom, latin, and country dancing. He specializes in American Smooth, but enjoys teaching all dance styles. His love for teaching dance stems from his belief that it can change people's lives on an emotional, physical, and spiritual level, helping them find confidence and acceptance of themselves.

Shawn has competed in many ballroom dance competitions with his students and has won several top teacher and top studio awards over the years. However, his greatest joy comes from teaching beginners and helping them break down concepts, build muscle memory, and connect with their bodies and the music.

Shawn's teaching philosophy is to make the movements feel as natural as possible, allowing the body to do the dancing and freeing the mind to focus on performance. He believes in being relatable, helping his students understand that mistakes are an essential part of the journey.

One of Shawn's most notable experiences as a ballroom dance teacher was creating a charity event called Dancing with Dignity, where he taught doctors, nurses, and health partners how to dance to raise money for stroke survivors. The event raised over a million dollars in five years, and Shawn's favorite moment was seeing a gentleman in a wheelchair stand up and dance with his wife during the first event.

To stay current with the latest trends and developments in the ballroom dance world, Shawn works with coaches from around the country to improve his dancing skills, communication, and teaching techniques. Through his dedication and passion for teaching dance, Shawn has helped countless students achieve their goals and discover the joy of dance.
