When we were founded back in 1999, our original slogan still holds true, “Music For The Immune.”
We are Biohazard Records, we were founded in 1999 by our owner Anthony Herrera. We were once known as Biohazard Music Records, we still retain that name as a servicemark. We are a record label, part of a group of labels, with a specific goal of representing the industrial and electronic rock music ge
nres. We are focused and concerned about the sanctity of music and art in an unforgiving world by preserving it for future generations. We aim to serve everyone from rivet-heads, goths, cyberpunks, militant club-stompers, to anyone that truly appreciates art. We are not meant to compete with Out-of-line, Artoffact, or Metropolis Records, but act as a companion to these wonderful labels as to celebrate the beloved art form we’ve dedicated ourselves to. In the epic words of mdfmk, We Must Not Allow The Future Of Music And Art To Belong To The Mediocre…okay, we might have expanded on that one. We’ve officially established ourselves in 2016. Our Values:
We are a label dedicated to the responsibility of making sure that our artists get their fair share, as we’ve established a maximum of 20% of invested earnings and a maximum of 13% of non-invested earnings on our artists, thus allowing them to take home 80 to 95 percent of all earnings from sales. The artist is the focus of our label, allowing them to create without interference, and supporting them every step of the way. We are also an environmentally centric company, by trying to reduce the amount of resources that we use. All plastics, vinyl, and paper we use, we strive to purchase and use 100% Post Consumer Recycled grade material. We also strive to use as much recycled material discs as possible. We also hope to use as much soy based or natural based inks in our products. All physical copies of media sold will also include an instant download of the material contained therein. An idea our founder had back in 2001, having an automatic digital copy available to the consumer upon purchase and access to download their purchase at any time, is something we will have available as part of our Geist programme. In the event that Amazon Music or iTunes no longer carries our catalogue, we will make sure that you, our consumer, will have access to whatever you legally purchased and own at any time (just don’t share the links to download them, please). We want to make sure that both the artist and consumer are being treated fairly. Support the artist, purchase their art. This is basic economics, support the arts and the arts will support the community. We also will not sue based on “Piracy”. We will officially go on record with our position of downloading music…if wanted, samples of what the artist’s work is like will be available through our Bandcamp profile so content can be streamed, which would hopefully lead to a purchase. If someone would still like to download the content ‘illegally’, just email us and we’ll supply a high quality copy along with a single question of “Why?” Again, please support the artist, as supporting the arts will support the community. But alas, we will not sue because lawsuits don’t solve anything, other than further abusing the legal system. This is something that will have to be readdressed in future legislation to come up with a better copyright law and getting rid of that ridiculous piece of sh*t…The Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). Hey, we’re just being honest, we still believe the concept of the Audio Home Recording Act (AHRA). When video becomes an option, we will be making music videos, live video, touring videos, etc. available on Vimeo for purchase in all formats. We will also have these videos available for streaming through Vimeo (in Standard Definition) and YouTube (also Standard Definition). We’ll also have them available for purchase on DVD or Blu-Ray when we have the capability.
