Why we post anonymous reports:

For decades there has been an ongoing systematic effort to suppress transparancy. That lack of transparency has allowed human and civil rights abuses to go unchecked. Reported efforts to suppress information include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Whistleblower retaliation, loss of job, stonewalling careers
2. False arrest
3. Planting of evidence
4. Targeting family members
5. Racking up charges
6. Prolonged sentences
7. Severe physical abuse carried out in a variety of ways
8. Ignoring of open records requests for years, or permanently
9. Intentionally poor record keeping
10. False public statements by jail and local government leadership, and/or their staff
11. Death threats
12. Falsification of records including logs and reports
13. Turning off of surveillance cameras
14. Smear campaigns
15. Posting personal information of the reporter online
16. Demanding detainee’s personal physicians block critical medical information from parents and legal guardians
17. Silencing also occurs via laws created to protect local government, jail leadership, and staff
18. Statute of limitations and reporting technicalities that make it impossible for detainees to file lawsuits after their criminal cases are resolved (a technique used to ensure reporters remain silent to avoid long sentences or other types of retaliation.)

These methods of intimidation, falsification, and suppression are intentional. For this reason, we protect whistleblowers and citizen reporters who wish to remain anonymous. All reports are posted “as reported” with the exception of the occasional spelling correction.

Comments, and reports from citizens are not necessarily the opinion of the page or individuals involved in the making of the Incorrection Documentary Series.
