Biological Science Technicians begin work in March and typically wrap up in July. They assist with a variety of sea turtle science and recovery projects, which include collection of sea turtle data and gathering information related to sea turtle stranding projects and sea turtle nesting projects. The position will include both administrative functions conducted in an office setting along with field work conducted in difficult and varied environmental conditions, including high temperatures, cold temperatures, wind, and humidity in a sandy and rough beach terrain.

One of our chickens mysteriously died yesterday, but today we found this coral snake in the yard…eating a smaller (rat?) snake. Chicken murder solved and this guy was safely transported far, far down the road with its lunch. 😬😳

These unique and beautiful birds spend the winter in the bays and estuaries of the mid-Texas Coast and rely on fresh water coming to the coast.

I spent an amazing Earth Day at the Gulf Coast Connections conference hosted by ’s Center for Environmental Studies. This morning we took a field trip to the and did an art project with DIY all-natural paints. This afternoon, we heard from artists, designers, architects, and other creatives about their work with the environment. Yesterday there were panels on teaching and on history. I am buoyed by the amazing work that people and organizations like are doing on the Gulf Coast!
