So, i took a little break from music. It got really busy as well, business wise, with my other page Dudeweeds. Ever since they legalised cannabis recreational here in NM, yours truly has been working hard getting everything ready to jump right in and get a piece of the green action. Meanwhile, the old record collection has been growing like crazy, patiently looking forward to be shared with the world. New additions, lots of angsty 80s stuff, indie, post punk...as winter hits, stuff will get a little easier and slower and once again i will get my cozy winter mix setup ready to entertain some loyal folks who were starting to suspect i either got robbed, killed, kidnapped or all of the above. A bit of news for the handful of loyal followers. I'm composing a 6 hour mix of mainly 60s psychedelic rock and some poetry and philosophy of the age thrown in. If you want to you can even attend the event where it will be played. There is going to be a BBQ in the early evening and some fun visuals after dark. I won't stop you if you want to dress in 60's outfit(actually, i highly recommend you do), but it is not at all an obligation. What does the Dj listen to, who plays music for others? Sometimes there are two worlds. The one that a Dj shares with his listeners, like he shares a conversation or a common interest. Never hidden, obvious and true. Then there is another world. The sacred ground, the hidden vault. The place where records are buried deep within the heart and the memory. Where memory, heart and sound are one and the same, intertwined. Whether it be a good one or a bad. A deeply happy one or deeply sad. Sometimes even where the distinctions fade into Painful and beautiful or raw and joyous...etc. They don't always bleed into the world, because it takes a kindred spirit to share with. If not, then it is in danger of losing its deepest meaning. If you can share them with no one in particular, then what value do they hold? But these songs and sounds exist and it's ok to be kept a secret, until you find someone who understands...

So, the last few days i was thinking about going through my ever expanding soul/funk section and do a show on it tomorrow evening.

But today it seemed like every KNCE Dj had the same idea😅...🙄...🤨

The thing is, when everyone is swimming in one direction yours truly tends to be the natural born non-comformist he always was. No funk and no soul...for now.

What my soul kinda craves is some 80's wave and post punk and that is exactly what i'm gonna do. Quirky stuff, plenty of teen angst emotions and a lust for life only a shoegazer truly owns...

Working on a few summer shows: 'The ma*****na Show' which is pretty much a Toker's choice with funny sketches mixed in, 'Awesome Mix part 2' my attempt to make a soundtrack to a movie no one has see yet in the Guardians Of The Galaxy-tradition, 'Cover or original' a show on covers outdoing the original (or not?) And there wouldn't be a summer without a good 'mid nineties grunge summer fest'...it's my roots, man.

Lot's of fun shows to look forward to as i go through my record shelves. Yesterday i ran into 2 brilliant albums in their own field....Device with the album '22B3'(1986) and on a different level the Band Sundance with the album 'Sundance'(1971). Both only made 1 album. A moment in time yet brilliant in their own way. PLEASE go check it out, you know how youtube works...

So i've been taunted by the same song for the past 4 days. Something they call an 'earworm'. A tune crawled into my ear and decided to hang around for a while...but the plot thickens. It's the original song that triggered flashbacks to a time in space where i lived and breathed metal from sunset to sunrise. The metal cover decided to join the socially accepted earworm to spice things up. For four days i've been hearing the original and the cover side by side changing angles, taking turns and doing a lot of crossfading as well...so i decided to do a show: 'did the cover just beat the original?'...ok, maybe not as catchy a title i hoped it would be, but it makes for an interesting journey. Looking for covers that beat the original song or at least give the original a run for the money. The guilty parties causing all this:

Yes, i'm still alive. Yes, i did take a bit of sick leave, but i'm far from done, man. Two weeks back i did a show to get back in the groove. Willie Nelson once sang about how 'Sad songs and Waltzes aren't selling this year', but nothing heals my weary heart like a sad song. Somehow it's good therapy, but perhaps not for everyone😅. The faint of heart and the exceptionally sensitive souls might want to look away this one time, as sad songs will be dominating the show. But for everyone else: have a good cry, make a little journey down to deepest crevices of the soul, only to emerge from it reborn and ready to take on the world again...or just hit the ski valley slopes hard

Everytime i think about doing another metal show i think about those poor folks whose fragile little spirits might get crushed under the weight of heavy grunts and nuclear face melters if they so happen to tune in by accident. Whose world might never look the same again, knowing that behind every corner there might be hiding a black leather character covered in metal pins, straight from some post apocalyptic mad max universe, just waiting to step up to them and ask if they have accepted the lord satan as their savior. It's more likely they are just like you and me, and heavy metal is just their therapy😅...so tune in folks because next wednesday 10pm to midnight is that time of year again😎🤘🤘🤘

I feel like making it to the radio station has been such a task the last few times...but that doesn't mean we are dropping the ball and bailing on our responsibilities as teachers, storytellers and jesters. While the elements were keeping me from being the natural born entertainer i set out to be, other vinyl collections found their way into my posession...fusion jazz, 90's hip hop, etc.
It's one thing to have experienced most of this music way back when, but as long as i have been listening to music i had an ever expanding list of records i would 1 day like to find. The list will never end but every now and then i get lucky and find a little collection that survived the sands of time telling a tale of a moment in time. Like the mid 90s hip hop. I know what i'm doing next show😉
