Okay, no more hookey! We've been crazy busy around here lately, and haven't been able to post anything. But we'll do our best to change that, starting today. Here's a glimpse of what we've been up to - StompBox Records' late 2021 release of Brett Littlefair's new album Footstompin' has spent 3 months on the Australian Blues & Roots Airplay Charts, with two months in the top 10! Dockery Service Station - located between Cleveland & Ruleville, in the heart of the Mississippi delta.
Directly behind is the Dockery Plantation, considered by most to be the birthplace of the blues. Robert Johnson was a regular there, amongst many other greats. It's likely he passed this exact point on his way to the crossroads to make a deal with the devil (probably thinking "I want to play better than Charley Patton" 😂).
Mississippi Fred McDowell, considered by us at StompBox to be the Godfather of Greasy Blues, lived about 80 miles northeast of here.
