Two weeks ago, I connected with a celebrity who has a verified account and a strong brand reputation. We had a session together, and she was really impressed with the skills I bring to the table.

Her job involves a lot of social media strategies, including campaigns to help her brand connect with her community and reach a wider audience. We were both excited about the potential collaboration. When the topic of payment came up, I shared my rate card with her, planning to offer a discount if she asked for it. However, after seeing the rate card, she went silent.

I followed up with a message to check her stance, as she seemed interested in the service and I was eager to help. Unfortunately, she hasn’t responded since.

A colleague advised me to let it go rather than risk working without guaranteed payment. He also suggested not lowering my rates just because it’s a brand I admire, as it might affect the quality of my work.

So, I’m asking for your advice: Would you consider offering a discount if a brand you admire hesitates after seeing your rate card?

Motivation is crucial for staying consistent as a creative, but it truly flourishes when you show up regularly.

I learned that no one else can keep you driven unless you choose to be. Until you reach a state of peak motivation, maintaining consistency will be challenging.

What drives you? Is it money? Fan appreciation? Social media attention? Recognition?

Whatever or whoever fuels your motivation, let them be your driving force and always stay connected to that source.
