Most of the listeners of this podcast are in the north-central Florida area. This episode of Dateline: Missing in America covers the case of Jasmine Robinson, from Archer, Florida.

The odds of someone seeing this that knows something or knowing someone that does know something are extremely high.

It's been four years, but it's never too late to talk to the Detective working to bring answers to Jasmine's family.

You can contact Det. Weitzel at 352-367-4161 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers of Alachua County at 352-372-7867.

Jasmine Robinson was last seen in the Archer, Florida home she shared with her grandmother on February 18, 2019. The 23-year-old was approximately six months pregnant when she went missing. Police believe she disappeared at approximately 7 p.m. Earlier that day, she had a heated phone call at work w...

A “Routine traffic stop” leads to the murder suspect in a 1994 homicide case in Atlanta, Georgia.

Oconee County (Georgia) deputy Devan Blair stopped a car for an expired tag. The driver gave a fake name and the name he gave had a suspended license. He was arrested where he gave multiple excuses why he shouldn’t be arrested, he had kids, a sick uncle, sick aunt, and on his way to the ICU to see a family member.

Once he was booked in jail and fingerprints taken, his real name popped up as Muhammad Bilal El-Amin, with an arrest warrant for a 1994 homicide.

In 1994, Muhammad was at a bus station with Jafferd Tucker in Atlanta, the two had recently met. At the bus station, Muhammad (allegedly) shot and killed Jafferd, who was 18 at the time. Muhammad was identified by security cameras and witnesses fleeing the scene right after the shooting.

A career in law enforcement is exciting, and you get to experience something new every day. Sometimes you see things you can’t believe! Yesterday, our deputies were notified of a possible intoxicated driver traveling northbound on Interstate 35. The vehicle was located and eventually pulled over. Deputies were surprised to see that the driver was wearing a beer can costume. Yes, you read that correctly. The driver was eventually placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol and transported to the Franklin County Jail. As always, suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

Episode 85: Charles Ponzi

Ponzi schemes are well known today and effect a lot of people. This episode covers the guy they are named after. Charles Ponzi was born in Italy and moved to America after college in the early 1900s. After one failed business attempt after another, he eventually struck gold.

He came up with a business to sell postage stamps… He gathered investors and began taking money from them. It wasn’t long before he was making millions of dollars.

The man who came to America with $2.50 in his pocket very wealthy, very quick. Then it all came crashing down.

When you talk about something happening that sets in place a series of events, that’s the case of Rico Harris.

His childhood led to him having unresolved issues as an adult, a basketball injury led to an addiction, which led to rehab, that led to getting clean, and finding a job. All of that together led to him making the trip from Los Angeles to Seattle and led to him parking in a lot in the mountains to rest in Northern California.

Since then, no one has seen or heard from him.

There are a few other things in this case that are unfortunate timing, including pretty good evidence that he was alive 8 days after being reported missing and returned to where his car was. But, it had already been towed for evidence.

Listen to this episode to learn more about Rico’s life, his dreams, and the investigation into his disappearance.

Episode 83. Dean and Tina Clouse.

In 1980, a young couple from Florida moved to Texas in search of a better job opportunity. Just a few months later their family quit receiving letters from them.

40 years later the family learned that the young couple were the unidentified victims of a murder just outside of Houston in 1980.

When they learned of this, their first question was…”What about the baby?”

Along the way, several law enforcement agencies, non profits organizations, and a true crime podcast network Audiochuck (Crime Junkies, Counter Clock, and many others) got involved to help find answers.

NEW EPISODE.
In 1974, Arlis Perry, a young newly wed, was found murdered in a church after she went there to pray.

Over the course of 43 years, there were many theories, to include a notorious serial killer, and a satanic cult. But, no one realized just how close they were to the killer all along.

I know that my podcast is not the best. The audio and editing could be better. I could do much better with storytelling. That stuff isn’t lost on me. This has been more of a side thing for me for a few years which is why I haven’t been consistent on posting or spending much time learning beyond the basics. I’m about to be spending a lot more time on the show and hopefully getting better. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve thought that maybe I should start over with something new. But it’s messages like this from complete strangers that makes it all worth it. Thank you everyone for listening and supporting this show over the years.

Sheriff Clovis Watson Jr. and his team remember Deputy Sheriff George Lasonro Bryant, who was shot and killed on December 3, 1908, while attempting to arrest a man for drunk and disorderly conduct. Deputy Bryant was 48 years old.

He had encountered the man in High Springs and told him if he went home he would not be arrested. The deputy then sent the man home in a buggy. When the buggy driver did not return, Deputy Bryant and another deputy went to the man's home to investigate. As they approached the home they were met by the buggy driver, who was running from the house. The driver told them that the man had kept him there and had beaten him.

Deputy Bryant went to the front door and was talking to the man when the suspect shot him. Deputy Bryant returned fire but did not strike the suspect. The man was convicted of second degree murder and sentenced to life at hard labor. He was granted a conditional pardon seven years later.

Deputy Bryant had served as a Alachua County Deputy and as the marshal for High Springs for 15 years. He was survived by his third wife, son, and three daughters. He is buried at Spring Hill Cemetery in Alachua, Florida.

New episode!

George Leslie was an architect turned bank robber in the late 1800s. His style of bank robbing was a little different than what people were used to seeing back then. His methodical schemes left bank presidents wondering what could have happened when they came in to see their money missing with the vault still in tact and locked.

George’s double life served him well, when he wasn’t robbing banks, he was befriending politicians and bank presidents. Even his funeral was attended by several bankers.

Listen to more about George’s life, why and how he took a successful career as an architect, and turned it in for a life of crime, and just how he pulled off the bank robberies.
