“Will two rods be allowed on the Willamette this year?” is one of the most frequently asked questions ODFW hears from anglers early in the new year.

Yes, two rods will be allowed in 2024 beginning March 1 downstream of Willamette Falls and May 1 upstream of Willamette Falls.

To provide transparency for anglers in future years, ODFW has developed a metric for allowing two rods on the Willamette River. Two rods will be allowed when at least 34,000 adult Willamette River hatchery-origin spring Chinook are forecast to return to the mouth of the Columbia River, enough to meet overall broodstock needs for the basin.

As the spring Chinook forecast is usually published in December, anglers should know the status of the two-rod allowance before the license year begins on Jan. 1. Forecasts in 12 of the last 15 years (including this year) have been sufficient to allow for the two-rod validation under this criteria, so ODFW anticipates allowing two rods most years.

Just got done dehydrating the jerky turn out great was happy with the new chennty dehydrating machine 12racks. It took 6-8hours for it to be perfectly dry. Started with almost 10lb after drying and try eating about a pound Pretty much lost half its weight.
