“Looking back while looking forward”
Will.i.am and I met way back, ahem, in 1979.
We were both 9 year old nerds back then innocently dreaming about art, music and movies.
12 years later, as housemates at the University of Buffalo, we had a lot a lot a lot of snow, and also a nice entertainment system, oh and my Sporty Blue Toyota Corolla hatchback, produced amazing parties, listened to music until dawn, kept on dreaming, writing and shoveling ice and snow! Yah, lots of snow ❄️
In 1991, we drove 27 hours straight, from Buffalo to Miami. Then we discovered together very overt racism in some states in our Union. Lil sis was there, StephanieMc Intosh!
But that part later.
Anyway, we were too happy to reach Miami after nearly overdosing on Mountain Dew and No-Doz!
All dressed up and ready to go, I passed out while everyone is out clubbing! Thanks for that one Bro!
Then we fly to Haiti for Winter Break!
Then there’s a coup d’etat in Haiti in the middle of vacation, great right!
I almost get killed, with a machete to my neck for filming mobs looting! Yah, Lafontant Roger Lafontant!
Anyway, because, I didn’t have a Press Pass! Oh right! 😮 “No I don’t have it! I am student....in the States”!
Then I remembered “Koupe tet boule kay”.
All the lesson I need for hard core journalism.

Back in the States, the Gulf war breaks out somewhere in South or North Carolina!
On a weekend visit to his Uncle Patrick in Baldwin Long Island, i found out that “my uncle was a prisoner in Fort-Dimanche. Spent 6 years and he’s writing a book, Fort-Dimanche: Fort-La Mort”
Wowwww! That’s crazy! Sounds amazing!!!!
Do you think he’ll let me a movie about his life?
