Around the World: Our Health Care Folk
We appreciate all that you are being called to do.
Around the globe, you are the heroes in this time of tumult.
We so appreciate you. ❤️
We know that you must work in extraordinary circumstances that in an ordinary time would be considered appallingly negligent.
Unspeakable working conditions where you are asked to decide who receives care, or not; who can be treated, or not. And that must be agonizingly difficult, soul-ripping.
Your families are heroes too. They send you off each day, knowing (at least in part) the nature of what you face. They send you off with their own special courage in play. Proud of what you do. Knowing your call to serve, but also fearful. Missing you. Your families are courage-lions too.
Around the world our medical teams battle,: physicians, nurses, respiratory technicians and all the other members of essential frontline folk. Each day they battle, in dire conditions and rapidly shifting frames of reference; giving the most they have, stretched and serving.
Our medical protocols and our resources, worldwide, are suits made small and grossly insufficient.
So, nightly, we lean outside — from our windows and our balconies — and we applaud you: a small token of regard and deepest appreciation. 💫
