Tabula, Rasa, B!tches!: A Buffy Rewatch Show | EP. 204 “Inca Mummy Girl”
We're so excited to welcome a special guest co-host to this week's episode - Jordan from @thepodcastdiaries! Here's an adorable clip from the episode connecting our two pods. 😁
It’s foreign exchange student time at Sunnydale High and Buffy is hosting a male student from South America. Xander isn’t thrilled until it seems Buffy is actually hosting a girl, not a boy.
Unbeknownst to the Scoobies, this girl, who takes on the name Ampata, is an ancient Incan mummy who was sacrificed by her people. She’s brought back to life and must drain the life force of other people in order to remain alive. Xander quickly charms Ampata with his goofiness and she agrees to go with him to the upcoming World Culture Dance.
More bodies are discovered and Buffy and Giles realize that Ampata is the mummy. Just as Willow is about to become Ampata’s next victim, Xander offers himself in her place. Ampata hesitates just long enough to quickly age and turn to dust.
The next day, Xander bemoans his awful luck in love and Buffy points out that Ampata may have done bad things, but she also had horrible things done to her.

Tabula Rasa, B!tches!: A Buffy Rewatch Show | EP. 203 "School Hard"
Principal Snyder has sentenced Buffy, on pain of expulsion, to set up the upcoming Parent/Teacher Night.
Meanwhile, two new vampires have moved into Sunnydale - a cheerfully homicidal maniac named Spike and his spacey girlfriend Drusilla. They tell the Anointed One they’ll ‘take care’ of his Slayer problem.
Buffy tries to keep her mom from meeting Principal Snyder at Parent/Teacher Night, but the two do meet, and Principal Snyder apparently does not have nice things to say about Buffy.
Suddenly, Spike and his goons burst through a window. Buffy and the Scoobies defend the school while the parents and teachers hide. Buffy faces off against Spike, fending him off with help from Joyce. Spike runs away, the school is saved, and Joyce is so impressed with Buffy’s leadership that she doesn’t ground her.
The next day, a defeated Spike concedes Buffy will be hard to defeat. He lifts the Anointed One into the morning sunlight, killing him, and takes over as the lead vampire in Sunnydale.
What were they doing in the street
Nick would defend Buffy through anything. Allie would defend Angel through anything. What happens when two unstoppable forces meet each other?
Love Makes You Do the Wacky
Tabula Rasa, B!tches!: A Buffy Rewatch Show | EP. 202 "Some Assembly Required"
Allie and Nick would kill for each other. They would get tattoos to remember each other. They would probably not mesh together a selection of bodies for the other person, though.

Tabula Rasa, B!tches!: A Buffy Rewatch Show | EP. 202 "Some Assembly Required"
Someone is digging up the corpses of women in Sunnydale - but for what purpose? While the gang investigates, Giles adorably struggles with asking out Jenny, and Angel and Buffy deal with their jealousy after Buffy’s sexy dance with Xander last episode.
Chris and Eric, two science geeks, are overheard saying Cordelia would be “perfect for us.” It’s revealed Chris and Eric are putting together the perfect woman for Chris’ brother, Daryl, who died and was brought back to life by Chris. They have this Frankenstein’s Bride almost put together and kidnap Cordelia to use her head to finish the job. The gang finds her in time, and as Buffy and Daryl fight, the place is lit on fire. Seeing his 'bride' go up in flames, Daryl chooses to be engulfed with it, screaming, “we’ll be together always.”
Buffy and Angel resolve their issues after Angel admits he’s jealous of Xander and Buffy says it’s not Xander she’s in love with. Dawn approaches, so Buffy offers to walk Angel home. They leave the graveyard hand in hand.

Tabula Rasa, B!tches!: A Buffy Rewatch Show | EP. 201 "When She Was Bad"
After spending the summer with her dad in L.A., Buffy returns to Sunnydale very unsunny. It seems her take-down of The Master and dying and coming back to life are still affecting her. To make matters worse, the Anointed One and his minions have a plan to bring The Master back.
Buffy keeps pushing everyone away as she avoids dealing with her trauma. Things come to a head when the Anointed One’s goons kidnap Willow, Cordelia, Giles, and Ms. Calendar for the Master-restoring ritual. Buffy, with the help of Xander and Angel, saves the day and gains some closure by smashing The Master’s bones to dust.
The next day at school, Buffy finds true friends can forgive and forget. The gang is together again.

The acting from SMG here is SO powerful. Dare we say this scene is the strongest acting in season one? What do you think?

This Slayer strutting over the Buffy theme song is so 90s and fabulous.
buffy master fight
At last, the showdown between Buffy and the Master! What this fight lacks in a whole bunch of combat, it DEFINITELY makes up for in Slayer sass. Agree?
In “Prophecy Girl,” Buffy bravely - heartbreakingly! - steps up in an incredibly responsible way.
buffy and joyce
Joyce: Is it written somewhere?
All of us: JOYCE IF YOU ONLY YOU KNEW. 😫
112 Prophecy Girl
Xander finally gets the nerve to ask Buffy out, and she feels bad when she has to tell him that she doesn't feel that way about him. Things get far worse, though, when she overhears Giles and Angel discussing a prophecy saying that the Master's ascension is at hand and that she will die trying to stop him. At this, she shouts out, telling Giles that she quits. But the vampires are growing stronger, and after an attack at the school that leaves Willow, in particular, shaken, Buffy decides it is time to face the Master. She is led to him by the Anointed One and is quickly overcome, the Master draining her blood and leaving her face down in the water. Xander, however, performs CPR and Buffy awakes feeling stronger than ever. Meanwhile, Giles, Willow, Cordelia, and Ms. Calendar are fighting off vampires and a huge monster that burst from the Hellmouth at the school. Buffy arrives back at the school to face the Master again and this time wins, throwing him through a glass roof onto a wooden shard below. The monster disappears back into the Hellmouth, and the gang retires to the prom at the Bronze.

No Friends is Hard
EP. 111 | “OUT OF MIND, OUT OF SIGHT”
Cordelia's friends are being attacked by a mysterious force and nobody is sure what is happening or who is behind it. After one attack, Buffy hears an ominous laugh and follows, but finds no one. The gang concludes that it may be an invisible person, and the prime suspect quickly becomes Marcie Ross—a girl whom no one seems to remember, even though she was in everyone's classes, including several with Xander and Willow.
Giles, Willow and Xander follow music they think Marcie is playing, only to find themselves trapped in the boiler room with a gas leak. They are rescued by Angel. Meanwhile, Buffy and Cordelia are kidnapped by Marcie and taken to the Bronze, where Buffy manages to escape and stop Marcie before she disfigures Cordelia. After Buffy subdues Marcie, two government officials enter, taking Marcie away to be 'rehabilitated'.
