Welcome to a new season of Tell Me What You Know! In this episode we are discussing Space Trash. AKA Space Junk. AKA Space Debris. This is all the crap left orbiting the earth at 17,000 miles per hour after being launched into space on the many thousands of missions over the years. Large things like satellites, dead rocket boosters, and the International Space Station down to tiny objects and flecks of paint.

This might not seem like something we need to worry about with the great vastness of space but we’ll learn about a possible future called the Kessler Syndrome where the earth becomes engulfed in these tiny bullets that makes space travel too dangerous.

We’ll look at ways we are trying to mitigate this problematic future and ideas for cleaning up space. Welcome back to Tell Me What You Know

On this episode of Tell Me What You Know we’re venturing into the world of NFTs, Non-Fungible Tokens. This is yet another crypto related topic that people between the ages of 16 and 35 are discussing as the next big thing. It leaves most of us asking, what exactly is an NFT and why are people spending so much money on them? Is this new technology the next form of digital art? Will it save the music and entertainment industry? Or is this simply the latest tulip bubble that will pop and leave 24 year olds staring at a USB stick full of overpriced JPEGs? Come get educated on this abbreviation I’m sure you are seeing everywhere. I guarantee at the end of the episode you’ll be able to define fungible. Also please purchase each of our episodes as a newly released NFT. They’ll be worth big money some day. Welcome to Tell Me What You Know.

In this episode of TMWYK, it’s 100 seconds to midnight, or at least that’s what the folks behind the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists say anyway. We’re talking about the Doomsday Clock, a metaphorical icon symbolizing how long humanity has until we’re all incinerated by nuclear bombs or succumb to unliveable climate change. Learn a little about the creation of the clock as well as global events that have impacted changes in the countdown. It’s Threat Level Midnight here on TMWYK.

On this episode of TMWYK we’re looking at the emerging technology known as Deep Fakes AKA Synthetic Media. This technology could be used to put your face into your favorite movie or for something more nefarious like making it seem like a political figure said something when they really did not. We’ll tell you a bit about it’s origins and science behind how it they are created, share some examples you can look up, and Michael and I will draft 5 deepfakes that Michael and I would like to create if we had unlimited deepfake capabilities. I promise you this is really us and it always will be, welcome to Tell Me What You Know.

On today’s episode of Tell Me What You Know we’re talking about, you guessed it, BALLS. With a very broad definition, we’ll draft our favorite balls and touch on a brief history of how the modern ball was made and how it used to be made. We don’t call it a pigskin for nothin’. We certainly don’t drop the ball on this one but this episode is meant for listeners whose balls have dropped. This is Tell Me What You Know.

On this episode of Tell Me What You Know, we’re looking at the good ole days of hair metal. Some of you might not like where we draw the lines on metal but you’re gonna have to deal with it because we want to talk about Ozzy, Leppard, Poison, and Halen. These bands created songs with the ability to take you back in time to your 18th birthday, strap you in the driver’s seat of Chevelle, and make you feel like you can run through a brick wall. With the passing of Eddie Van Halen, we’ll take you through their origins playing venues up and down the west coast before scoring their big break and putting out hits like Panama, Jump, and Hot for Teacher. Sit down. Shut up. This is Tell Me What You Know.

On this episode of Tell Me What You Know we’re getting spooky and talking about all things Halloween. We’ll dive in to a bit of history touching on how we all came to be carving pumpkins, knocking on stranger’s doors demanding candy, and dressing up in our scariest, funniest, or sexiest costumes. The draft for this week will include: favorite candy to receive trick or treating, worst candy to receive trick or treating, best scary movie, best solo costume, and best group costume. Go buy a bag or two of your favorite candy and don’t get too scared. Welcome to Tell Me What You Know.

Finally Michael and I draft our favorite road trip snacks that you can find in any gas station or truck stop. Hit us up on your CB radio and give us the honk signal as you pass us in the fast lane. On today’s episode of TMWYK, we start the show off with a little p**n talk. During this light research, we verified that people have been h***y forever, dating all the way back to paleolithic times. We’ll take a ride through p**n history from millions of years ago through the Golden Age of P**n in the late 1900’s, to today’s booming p**n industry. On today’s episode of TMWYK, we are diving into Biohacking -- the art and science of changing the environment around and inside of you so that you have full control over your own biology. We’ll talk about different methods of biohacking, from common to outright dangerous. We’ll also walk through some steps beginners can do to start hacking their bodies. Get ready to live forever.

And then, we’re going back to our awkward teenage years when your voice cracks, hair appears in deep crevaces, and your mother takes you to get braces. Why do we have crooked teeth? We don’t give dogs and cats braces yet their teeth are usually perfectly straight. These painful straigteners do a lot more than make you look good on Instagram. Speaking of which, why don’t you go give us a follow there. Just search Tell Me What You Know.

On this episode of TMWYK, we’re talking about out-of-body experiences, namely Astral Projection. If you’ve seen the MCU movie Dr. Strange, you might have an idea of what we’re discussing. We’ll talk about the potential benefits of this pseudoscience, as well as methods you can use at home to attempt this phenomenon yourself. If you’re running low on quarantine activities, astral projection may just be your ticket out.

And then, we’re going to submerge into the cramped world of submarines. These underwater vessels allow us to explore the vastness of the oceans and launch full-scale nuclear war at a moments notice. First created in the 17th century, these inventions have come a long way from being powered by hand cranks to being powered by nuclear reactors allowing them to stay submerged for months at a time. We discuss what life is like aboard these cigar-shaped boats and touch on some of our favorite sub movies. Welcome to Tell Me What You Know.

On this episode of TMWYK, we’re talking Dungeons and Dragons. DnD is one of the most popular RPG games worldwide. We’ll dive into how the game is played, some general mechanics of getting through an adventure, and touch on some controversies that came about because the media seems to have always thought that games create violence.

And then, we're going small, as small as you can go and venturing into Atoms. First we'll talk about a brief history of the idea of atoms, then we'll scale them up to the size of the earth to get a sense of just how big they are. We can't leave out Einstein's famous E=MC^2, the results of which have literally changed our world. For the better? You decide. Then we'll close it out by talking about some famous Adams, like Sandler, West, and Scott. Welcome to Tell Me What You Know.

03/07/2020

On this episode of Tell Me What You Know, we’re talking about the Fermi Paradox. There are billions of galaxies with billions of stars in the known universe, and an astronomical number of these stars are similar to our sun and have planets similar to Earth, where conditions are ripe for life as we know it. So if there is so much potential for life in the universe, why haven’t we seen any signs of it? We’ll discuss this paradox and dive into some possible explanations.

And then, we're spilunking. We are going to plunge you into the deep and dark world of caves. Caves are natural openings in the ground created by erosion and tectonics. They house some of the strangest looking animals and insects as these species have learned to use the lack of light and food to their advantage like how bats use echolocation to create a detailed map of their interiors. Let's go deep on caves cause this is Tell Me What You Know.

26/06/2020

On today’s episode of TMWYK, we’re starting off the show with a trip down memory lane. There truly was nothing better in childhood than swinging by Blockbuster to pick up a movie on a Friday night. The movie rental giant ruled the home video world for about two decades. Sadly, it paid the ultimate late fee by failing to adjust to modern times.

And then, we're going to see what wood tastes like and look at termites, one of the earth's most successful insects. These 6 legged creatures are in the same family as cockroaches but unlike their sister-species they exist inside a colony with a caste system similar to ants but their parents don't require a dowry. These little pests are known to ruin your porch or roof but we'll learn that they actually play a vital role in the ecosystem. Stick around to hear how they fend off ant raids and all the animals that like to call them dinner. This is Tell Me What You Know.

22/06/2020

On today’s episode of TMWYK, we’re talking about pet rocks. We learn about Gary Dahl, the freelance advertising copywriter from California who thought up the while joking around in a bar with friends. That joke earned Dahl more than a million bucks. Like the pet rock, other fads have made their mark on history as well as on the wallets of their creators. We’ll wrap up the first half of the show discussing some of these, like tamagotchis, pogs, and beanie babies.

And then, we're talking Pyramids. The pyramids are one the seven wonders of the world and have astounded tourists for millennia. Still to this day there are controversies over how they were built and why. One thing is for sure they are technically achievements. You couldn't slip a piece of paper between the stones, some of which weigh 80 tonnes and they are aligned perfectly to true north. There can be only one answer and we all know what it is. Aliens. Welcome to another conspiracy episode of Tell Me What You Know.

On today’s episode of TMWYK, we aim to get a rise out of our audience with a little elevator talk. We’ll start the conversation off with a little history, change floors quickly for elevator facts, then move on up to the penthouse for a discussion on some of the most unique elevators in the world. Finally, we’ll get into what you should do should you be trapped in an elevator. Hopefully this episode isn’t a let down.

And then, “The Sultan of Swat”, “The King of Crash”, “The Great Bambino”. Yes, we’re talking about Yankee slugger and American hero, Babe Ruth. Why was his name Babe? It’s actually George. How did he get all those nicknames? Did he actually call his shot to center field in the 1932 World Series? Well folks, when the legend becomes fact, print the legend. Stick around to hear all about this American icon on Tell Me What You Know.
