In 2018, I encountered this beautiful Great Black-backed gull (Larus Marinus) on the tiny volcano Island of Rangitoto, near the city of Auckland, New Zealand . 🇳🇿

Used to human presence, I could approach him at a good distance to take these shots. 📷

Largest member of the gull family, their lifespan in the wild can reach more than 25 years if they don't disappear earlier.

Some beautiful schooling yellow snappers on the reef of Koh Bida Nok, a small island 🏝of Phi Phi Archipelago, in Thailand. 🇹🇭

They are usually found in coral reefs and stays as a group, partly to protect themselves from predators.👌

This beautiful Hawksbill Turtle used to live in the waters of Phi Phi Island.🏝 Thailand 🇹🇭
It was easy to recognize her due to her missing arm and always a pleasure to see her swimming around us.💙

⚠️ As they don't have gills, they must come back to the surface to breath. It is then really important to not stress them underwater, If you see one of them coming up, please leave a safe space around it to not be a disturbance.👌

Kuhl's stingray, also known as blue spotted stingray are a very common species of rays. 👌

This one was found in Bungalow Bay, a divesite of Racha Yai 🏝, an island near Phuket, Thailand. 🇹🇭

⚠️ Overfishing, and aquarium trade are once more some of the threats that this species encounters.
As the rays dwell in the reefs, the destruction and pollution from fertilizers and pesticides hurt them.

Save the bees 🐝 help save the planet! 🌏

Exhausted, unable to fly, this cute honey bee was found in a kiwi orchard.

After putting some honey on a fork, we gave it to her, and few minutes later, she flew away ready to forage some flowers 🌻

Try to have some honey in your car, and if one day, you find a distressed bee, you might be able to save her.👌

⚠️ It is one of the most important animal species on the planet, without them, we will not have trees, flowers, fruits and vegetables to eat.

We depend on them, so please understand that they are no threat for us and let's save them together!😁

In addition to the video that I posted yesterday, you can now see three different Seamoths, including a unique sight, a juvenile one. 😲

The first picture was made during a night dive in Kata, Phuket, Thailand.🇹🇭

When Seamoths deploys its "wing-like" pectoral fins, you can understand why their scientific name "Pegasidae" is inspired by Pegasus.

City view of Auckland, New Zealand 🇳🇿 from the top of Mount Eden, the highest natural point in the area.⛰ (196 meters/ 643 ft)

Maungawhau, or Mount Eden, is a dormant volcano🌋 which is 28,000 years old located in the city of Auckland.
Maungawhau is the original Māori name, meaning "mountain of the whau tree".🌴

The quick hike and the sight there is amazing, I recommend to go up there if you stop by Auckland!

This amazing creature is a Lionfish (Pterois is native from Indo-Pacific) found in Banana Bay, a divesite of Racha Noi island 🏝, near Phuket, Thailand. 🇹🇭

😔 Unfortunately, some specimens has been released in other oceans as the result of the aquarium trade, cargo transportation and other reasons, which made Pterois an invasive species in many parts of the globe.

⚠️ Please, if you do collect and care of exotic fishes or other creatures in your house, do not release them in the wild, they might create a huge disturbance in the local food chain! ☠

This pigeon 🐦takes a rest in the stone wall of a Christian church in the small city of Pujaut, south of France. 🇫🇷

In the Christian religion, they are the symbol of peace and of the Holy Spirit.⛪

Pigeons are perceived as dirty birds, however, due to their fastidious self-grooming, they are actually very clean.👌

An Hermit Crab 🦀 crawling on top of an artificial reef located in Vikings Cave, a dive site of Phi Phi Islands, Thailand. 🇹🇭

Most of species have a curved and spirally soft abdomen that is protected once the crab find a shelter, which is most of the time an empty shell of sea snail. 🐌

Blennies are small fishes 🐟 that you can find all over the world in coastal areas.
That one lives on the reef of Kata Beach, in Phuket, Thailand. 🇹🇭

Some species of blennies, known as "rock-hoppers" have the ability to leap from the water onto rocks in order to gain access to other pools. 👌

Hiding in the coral, this Devil Scorpionfish 🐟 blends perfectly with his environment. He relies on its camouflage to catch passing prey.
Found in Koh Bida Nok, 🏝 a small island of the Phi Phi Archipelago, in Thailand. 🇹🇭

⚠️ Watch out for his dorsal spines which are venomous and can cause intense pain. If you get stung, seek medical help right away!

This beautiful insect is a Snakefly
They are predatory insects from the order Raphidioptera.
I found this one in the Occitanie region, in the south of France 🇫🇷

Snakeflies are considered as living fossiles, modern-day species are very similar to the ones from the early Jurassic Period. 🦖

That is some Sea Cucumbers found in Racha Yai, an island near Phuket, Thailand 🇹🇭
You can find them on soft substrates such as sand.
On the second picture, you can see their tube feet, used for feeding.

Unfortunately some species are a delicacy in some countries, which has driven to a worldwide poaching. ⚠️

Interesting fact : When under attack, they do a self-evisceration, expelling some of their internal organs to try to satsisfy their predator and avoid to be eaten.👌

🐙Reef Octopus (Octopus Vulgaris) are an amazing animal to look at. Master of disguise, you can see them changing shapes and color, depending the situation and their environment.
This one was found in Banana Bay, a dive site of Racha Noi, Thailand.

Please if you see some, respect a distance to not disturb them.👌

Fun fact : They got 3 hearts, a main one and two little that are located next to their gills.

A cute Western Anemonefish 🐟family hiding in their anemone.
Found at 5meters in Lucy's Reef, a Racha Yai divesite in Thailand.🇹🇭

The Anemone is considered as their house as they shelter inside it to get food and avoid predators.

Nudibranchs found in Racha Noi Island🏝, near Phuket, Thailand. 🇹🇭
There are about 3,000 species known around the world.

Their name means "naked gills" which can be seen at the back of their body. For some, might look like a tiny flower. 🌻

There is a first try of the new camera insta360 One R, using the 1-inch Leica mod!
It is quite a good camera recording 5k videos, and taking pictures in RAW.
I had the opportunity to test it in Koh Pu, Thailand, a tiny island in front of Kata Beach, Phuket 🇹🇭
Luckily a whipray was there to welcome us and pose for the picture.

A beautiful Banded Coral Shrimp (Stenopus Hispidus) also called by some Boxing Shrimp 🦐, found in a cave on the amazing reef of Koh Doc Mai, an Island🏝 near Phuket, Thailand 🇹🇭

This shrimp likes to eat parasite found inside fish's mouth.
When the fish 🐟 is ready to get clean, it starts hovering and open its mouth.
It is the signal for the shrimp to get to work!

Many people call it Leopard Shark because of his round patterns, but as a juvenile, they have stripes, that's where comes from one of his common name Zebra Shark.

The divesites of Racha Yai, in Thailand🇹🇭 are always full of Barracudas. 🐟

Fast like a lightning, approach them slowly when they are alone or they will disappear.⚠️

Unfortunately these fishes are a favorite on people's plates. I personnally prefer to see them alive and swimming!

The Frogfish is one of the most amazing species of fish. They can be found with all types of colors and are incredible hunters.

They usually stand still until their prey approach, and then slowly walk to them using their pectoral fins before to throw the final hit.🧨

When the Ocellaris Clownfish 🤡🐠 also known as Western Anemonefish find an anemone, he forms a symbiotic relationship with it.👌

They both needs eachother for protection, the anemone giving shelter to the fish, and the fish cleaning up his tentacles and prevent other fishes to eat them.

Interesting fact, the western anemonefish is hermaphrodite.

Diving with Seamoth

This wonderful fish 🐟 is a Seamoth, or Pegasidae, found at 8 meters in Kata Beach, Phuket, Thailand. 🇹🇭 It's name comes directly from Pegasus, the creature from the Greek mythology. Their wing-like pectoral fins, and their long snout give an amazing look to these fishes.👌 ⚠️Sadly, one of the five existent species is listed as vulnerable, and we don't have enough data for the remaining four.
