You simply cannot talk about the LFA in any capacity without talking about the engine. The engine was bespoke to the LFA, and to this day, it's the only Toyota/Lexus product to ever use it. The 4.8-liter V10 was developed in collaboration with Yamaha, and one of their engineers described the sound as "the roar of an angel."
Lexus claims their engine can rev from idle to its redline in 0.6 seconds and an analog tachometer needle could not accurately track the LFA’s changes in engine speeds. Lexus had to install a digital gauge simply because an analog rev counter couldn’t keep up. The resulting sound of such a powerful, high-revving engine was extremely aggressive and as close to that of a race car as a road-legal supercar could get.
