On Sunday I took a quick two-day trip to the Free State to visit the farm and my family. This trip was a little different than my usual travels as I spent most of my time relaxing and spending quality time with family.

On Monday afternoon we headed to the farm to take some photos and I just realised once again how special this place is to me. I was reminded once again that it is the simple things in life that matter most and bring the most joy.

Going on adventures is something I do very very frequently - You can almost say that adventure is my middle name. 😉

The Maldives has definitely been one of my favourite trips up to date. I think the main reason why is because of the outdoor lifestyle I maintained during my trip. I was constantly in the water, either snorkelling, swimming or kayaking, or playing volleyball or just walking around on the island.

Tonight’s post is something a bit more personal. I think it’s about time that I share a little bit of my story and how the outdoors became such a big part of my life.

It all started when my parents got married. Both of them came from farming backgrounds. When they got married, my dad wanted to buy a farm. My grandfather advised him to buy one close to my mother’s family, which was in Frankfort in the Free State.

So, in 1997 (the year before I was born), my dad bought a farm just outside of Frankfort. Even though we lived in the city, we spent numerous weekends and holidays on the farm. I always say I had the best of both worlds: growing up in the city while also having the opportunity to experience the outdoors. My love for the outdoors grew stronger and stronger, eventually leading me to make a living out of it.

I will forever be thankful to my parents for giving me this incredible opportunity.

I don’t know how to start to write this, but I think the best way to start is to say thank you. For me, I’ve reached a huge milestone today and this would not have been possible without your support.

This past year I’ve really started to work super hard on my content to give you quality and not quantity. I wanted to make it worth it to follow me, to give you insights on traveling and to recommend places that is enjoyable, fun and unique!

The most important thing for me is though, is to inspire all of you to enjoy the outdoors and to go on as many adventures as possible. It is so fulfilling when I receive messages from you guys saying:
“I didn’t even know these places existed, can’t wait to adventure”
or “I can’t wait to save up and explore the places you’ve been to”.
That is literally my ultimate goal.

So once again, thank you for supporting me on my journey. Thank you for allowing me to share my content and for appreciating what is being shared. It means the world to me. Thank you for your comments, your shares, the saves ... everything.

I think this has to be one of my favourite views up to date. The Drakensberg really never disappoints. Each time you visit, the Berg will surprise you with something different.

Can’t wait to get back to the here. Luckily, I have a hike planned together with a couple of friends end of July! If all goes well and according to plan, we’ll be hiking from the Amphitheater to Mnweni and back.

Keeping Fingers and toes crossed that this hike will happen.
Oh, and another thing! I will be vlogging this hike. Big things coming on my YouTube channel.

Last year December I explored the West Coast with the best group of people. Made the best memories, had loads of fun and met life-long friends.

We spent most of our time at The Lighthouse in Yzerfontein where we learned how to make macrame ( ), how to play the Djembe, how to forage ( ), how to tie dye a t-shirt and how to replant and take care of a spekboom.

We also explored the West Coast National Park and nearby towns like Paternoster and Tietiesbaai. The morning started with a kayaking session and we ended off with a nice local lunch in Paternoster.

Miss you guys! Hope we get to do this again soon. 💛

Have you ever been to Rosemary Hill?
It’s the perfect place if you’re looking for a weekend getaway.
Rosemary Hill is located just outside of Pretoria and has so many different accommodation to choose from.

They have so many activities like hiking, mountain biking, acrobranching, horse riding and segway tours! You can even walk through their maze and have a lovely picnic.

Not to mention, they have so many different accommodation that you can choose from.

If you’re looking for something unique, you have to check them out.

Mpumalanga is a province that has an abundance of beautiful waterfalls.

Lisbon Falls is convenient and accessible to locals and to visitors from all over the world. There are lovely trees nearby and a great lookout point that is perfect for a picnic with friends and family.

If you have the time and the energy, there is a 20min hiking trail that leads to the bottom of the waterfall. The view from the bottom will leave you in awe.

My experience there was incredible and unforgettable.

Oh, and they don’t call it Cape View Clifton for nothing. 😉
