This coffee consulting company just got a creative & strategic lift 👇👀

Our sister company, Pomelo Coffee Consulting, just got a lift. We’ve been working on a new strategy and creative direction for Pomelo since mid May, and are so excited to finally see it come to life! ⁠

Pomelo's brand identity is rooted in love for bright, sweet coffees that echo the flavors of pomelo, paired with a deep commitment to fostering equity in the coffee supply chain. Their visual feed needed to own that spirit in order to authentically represent who they are.⁠

Their social strategy had to encapsulate their 3 values; good, honest, iterative-and meet their goals of a greater reach and increased engagement. Through target market research and competitor analysis, we were able to strategize 8 content categories that are unique and worked together to ensure that Pomelo hit those goals. ⁠

It was an accident. That's how I (Luke) started writing a book for pomelo coffee consulting.


Two years ago I started posting a few times a week on social media sharing educational material to help coffee roasters because that's the whole point of Pomelo Coffee Consulting...to help coffee roasters. After a year, my Dad asked me where all this information could be found. I said it was all on my blog. He looked at me and said, "Yeah, I don't know if that's good enough. It needs to be all in one easy-to-access place."⁠

So I got to thinking about how I could compile and share this same content in one singular place.⁠

The initial concept was a 7-part series of booklets that followed the arc of Pomelo's Core 7 structure. If you aren't familiar, the Core 7 are the 7 areas of business that Pomelo helps roasters with.⁠

A month of writing went by, then 2, then 3, and the next thing I knew, these booklets turned into 90k+ words, 8 chapters, and 1 book. The first 70K words took me 12 months to write. Then, a wild thing happened; I wrote 20k words in one month. Apparently, it's a pretty normal phenomenon for writers to get a burst of energy towards the end of their book. However, I attribute this burst of power writing to finally having a clear understanding of how detailed my chapter outlines needed to be.⁠

If you are starting to write a book, I'd spend the first month or two getting your outline dialed in. It'll help ensure your main point is clear, your subpoints support your main point, and it will help you get into your writing flow much easier.⁠

What's this got to do with The Lev Co? Well, we'll obviously be doing the layout and design and we can't wait to share it with you. It'll look great in your roastery library, in your cafe, or on your coffee table at home 🙂.⁠

The book is slated to be released in the spring of 2025.⁠

You know when someone just gets you? It’s a great feeling, isn’t it? They know how you take your coffee, your favorite meal, and sometimes go above and beyond to make you feel special. ⁠

We’re pretty process-oriented over here at The Lev Co. ⁠

We have a process for just about everything we do down to how we shape engagements with clients. Before we ever say, “We’d recommend doing…”, we value spending time learning about your business. You know it better than anyone else, so we start there to inform what is next.⁠

This process is called a Brand Assessment and it typically takes about 2 months. During this initial process, we cover things like: your brand identity, a review of your products, sales, packaging, etc, as well as your long term vision and goals.⁠

You’re probably asking yourself, “What is the outcome of this assessment?” ⁠
Usually, the outcome is CLARITY. Clarity, for you as the owner, often means a reminder of what really matters to you and your business. For us, as your creative partner in crime, we walk away with a deeper understanding of your business informed by the context you’ve provided. This contextual clarity gives us the ability to provide key recommendations informed by your business goals vs what we simply feel like you need as creative experts.⁠

It’s important that we stay ahead on content calendars for our social media clients! Our process for people working on social media with us looks a little like this: ⁠

We have a meeting during the first week of every month to discuss the following week. Working with folks in the coffee industry, things are always moving, changing, happening. It’s important that we work together with our clients to ensure that important and necessary information is conveyed across social channels for the following month. After that, we get to working on strategizing topics for the following month, and creating a visually aesthetic calendar that’s aligned with our clients brand. Finally, we write copy during the second week, send it off to our client for revisions, and schedule it as soon as we receive feedback. The cycle repeats the following month! ⁠

We find that this process is most successful and effective for everyone on board. ⁠
