At work, I do not have a license to drive the Hilo. When I need to move a pallet, I have to find a manual pallet jack, pump it rapidly to lift the skid and drag it behind me around the plant. While I do benefit from an extremely productive forearm workout, I am left exhausted at the end of the day a

This past week I came across my old planner from a year ago. I flipped through and found to do lists, meeting notes, and appointments I had scheduled. As I looked closer I read of things that had caused me a great deal of stress and worry: an intimidating customer issue, an impossibly long task list, a meeting I dreaded, etc.

I realized that many of these things that plagued me a year ago had completely dropped from my memory and held no significance now. It got me thinking, “Of the things that occupy my worry today, how many will I remember a year from now?” Chances are, it will not be many.

Remember to step back from time to time and take a long-term perspective of the things that burden you today. More often than not, it will not matter a year from now anyway. 📓

In this episode we discuss how the attitude you walk in with on Monday, impacts the results you walk out with on Friday.

A shift in attitude can lead to success (jump back to episode 003: Defining Success to create your definition of success) and happiness in your work. This can sometimes seem easier said than done, so we walk through five simple and practical ways to apply this at work tomorrow.

Let us know which one you plan to implement!

What's your line in the sand? When do you say something? When do you let it go?

From the outside, it can be easy to look at an embezzlement investigation, hazardous waste dump, or some other major corporate scandal and say, “I’d never do that!”. However, the smaller decisions can be more difficult.

To help protect against this ethical erosion, we discuss the stories of Philip and Paul in ancient Rome. Both of these men drew a line in the sand at different points, and each lost their life because of this decision.

QUESTION: What’s your gate? What is a line in the sand you have drawn? How did you determine what that would be?

From a very young age, Paul enlisted Timothy to aid in planting churches. After spending time with Paul, Timothy was selected to lead the church in Ephesus. Paul gave Timothy significant authority to lead worship, appoint and guide other leaders and to set an example.

God also calls on you, no matter your age, to set an example. Not an example rooted in pride or self-righteousness, but one that reflects His love to others.

FIRST INTERVIEW!

Could I really be a leader? How do I know what talents I bring to the table? Does cultural fit even matter?

Those are big questions, but often times we can gain traction on these topics by learning from someone a little further down the road. This month we sit down with a good friend, mentor, and church leader to learn from his first ten years in ministry.
