Yesterday's press conference outside of the EBR Parish School Board office featured elected officials, parents, and activists who were opposed to the proposed budget cuts that were to be discussed in the public meeting that followed shortly thereafter.

Baton Rouge School Board Approves Racist New Maps; Prompts Black Members to WALK OUT (April 7, 2022)
On Thursday, April 7, the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board approved a 9-member school district map that ignored demographic changes in the Parish and further defied the wishes of the community by refusing to expand the board to 11 members.
The party line - and racial line - vote of 5-4 prompted every Black member of the Council to walk out of the meeting following the vote, along with several community members who were noticeably emotional.
