Why is it important to attend the convention as a member if you can?
The opportunity to be around other breeders and share stories and information. And education that is given at the convention. Also the election of new officers and bi-law changes that have to be voted on and the way that things are written there have to be a few people present to vote.

How many records do we have to have in order to create an EPD?
You'll hear various numbers. The most common number is 2,000 records. Once you hit the 2,000 usable records mark you can start to calculate an EPD with fairly good confidence. You can get it with less, but to get a number that isn't going to jump around and change you need about 2,000.- Dr. Bauer

What's the difference between $M, $T and $FE?
$M- pounds of calf wean per cow exposed. 28 vs 18 you are expecting $10 more per calf from that bull on the maternal side
$T- 120 vs 80 you are looking at 40 lbs more per calf on the rail on average from that bull with the 120 vs the 80.
$FE-feed efficiency- balancing growth from weanling to yearling

I believe in bringing new blood in. Because if just sit there and use your blood over and over and over again you are just making a more narrow door to improve your herd. When I bring in outside blood and mixing that around it improves my herd. I'm not too proud to use somebody else's blood to improve my heard. -Mackie
