Extraordinary woman, Beatriz Pugliese, 25, from Sao Paulo in Brazil has undergone 30 surgeries from the age of six months to reduce her birthmarks, as they are prone to cause skin cancer. Beatriz was born with a condition called Giant Congenital Melanocytic Skin Disorder, which means that her skin produces high levels of melanoma. The condition is so rare it affects one in 5000,000 people.

Beatriz says her family didn’t treat her any different, and that allowed her the room to grow into the confident person she is today. Her mum says a Dr told her not to hide her a way as that would be more damaging than if she were just allowed to be herself.

The nevus birthmark covers 80% of her skin. There are even birthmarks on the soles of her feet. She experienced bullying, with one boy at school saying that ‘her skin makes her look like a monkey’. Despite this, Beatriz has developed a strong sense of self-confidence and does not let the negativity stand in her way of leading a normal and healthy life.

Beatriz has become an advocate for the skin conditions and supports others who share the similar birthmarks. Beatriz currently works as a biologist and has recently married her husband Fellipe who sees past her condition.
‘Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t be who you want to be’, says Beatriz who is determined to inspire others around the world.

Kicked punched and beaten by the very friendship group she had trusted since preschool. That's what Australian based, Kimberly had to go through in her childhood years through to her teens.

It left her self-esteem so low that by the time she reached university in her 20's, she had hit rock bottom, unable to trust anyone or hold meaningful relationships, bursting into tears for no reason.

Opened by Prime Minister David Cameron in 2013, Fairy Tale Farm was set up to accommodate both disabled and non-disabled children.
