Growing on social media organically is a long process. What isn't mentioned here is the amount of comments from people saying they went to certain locations after seeing videos to purchase something.
This morning I hit 10,000 followers on TikTok. On Jan, 1, I was at 3,765. Here's how I did it!
TESTING - over the last 2 years I'd occasionally post videos, with the purpose of just seeing what would resonate with people. Sometimes there'd be barely any engagement - http://ow.ly/81VT50JiQ2c
CONSISTENCY - in two forms being consistent with the type of content I produce and posting one video every single day at the start of this year.
CONTENT - Posting about food spots result in shares because people want to tell others to come with. My Daily Vlog - allows for me to connect with my community in the comments. Help - sharing insight on my weight loss journey, building my business, & educational path. This type of content allows me to build relationships, and inspire action in people's personal lives. This organically results in the more KEY 🔑 engagements - comments and shares.
REPLY - as tedious as it sounds replying to as many, if not all the comments with statements that spark additional comments, is a game changer. Helps you connect better with the viewer, can give you new content ideas, and boosts engagement.
GIVING - whenever I would do a brand deal or partnership, I always gave to the viewer (provide them with a promo code or chance to get a tangible item). And I never asked for a follow in return as a requirement.
SEPARATE - content is oversaturated, find something that fills a hole in a storytelling market. For me that was geographical. Daily lifestyle, food, & vlog content is a well established stream of videos. However, not many people are doing it in Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada. 🇨🇦
ANYTHING EXTRA - If you can add any additional elements like transcription, or pop ups to separate yourself in the viewing experience, do it. Watch time is key so aim for 80% of your video to be viewed and elements like that help keep the viewer on.
I'm going on a local t.v. show tonight, is there anything specific I should try and talk about in the interview? 📺
