So I went on a stroll to see if I could find a copy of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, here in Melbourne, Australia. First stop, EB Games; a line out the door. Next stop, JB Hi-Fi (Best Buy x Tower Records), a waaay longer line out the door with a sign that reads, “Zelda pre-order queue”.
I said, “Welp, guess I’ll have to wait”. After trying to go to one of my favorite tea shops for a hot sesame latte, but skipping it due to another super long line, I meandered over to Big W (Walmart equivalent) to buy some more socks.
I remembered they have an electronics section and walked over to ask about the game since there was nobody there.
I saw three new Zelda games stacked at the register. “Are those only for pre-order?” I humbly asked. The cashier replied, “No, mate. Ya want one?”
I joyfully said, “Well, I suppose since I’m here.”
We both laughed about the long lines elsewhere. And I went upstairs to celebrate with a slice of cake.
Even in the hellscape we are trying to survive, sometimes it’s a win. Today was a win. I hope your day was a win, too.
