New Episode out Tomorrow. Unfortunately not our normal format, as the podcast we had lined up with an age group athlete as a guest, we were asked not to share their story. So we either waited a week or share a story that happened to us over the last few weeks. So that’s what we have done. Please enjoy the story of when Mrs C met GTB. Along with podcast recommendations, the weather and a new book on food.

Out Tomorrow episode 84 of the Agegroup Multisport Podcast featuring .body.conditioning Angie Joiner Hardy. A fascinating journey growing Angie chose running as her favourite sport she says “"I come from a running background. Between 1996 and 2000 I ran internationally as a distance runner. Representing England in the Commonwealth Games 1998 in Kuala Lumpur. The World Half Marathon Championships in 1997 and the World Cross Country Championships where we won a team bronze medal.

I was sponsored by puma for 5 years at that time and ranked 8th in the Commonwealth over 10,000m with a time of 33.20.

I had my family and got into triathlons at around 40. I have never really trained to optimum for duathlons as I have always relied on being a PT for fitness. However, they are getting super competitive and if I want to get in the medals I need to do some proper and structured training. I have had 2 silver medals in the middle distance duathlons at Worlds. I got double bronze medals in the sprint and standard distances 4 years ago. I also got a silver getting exactly the same time as Cathy Dawson to 100th of a second. What a race that was. I have also bagged another bronze at standard distance 2 years ago. The last couple of races 4th and 6th. I have a year between now and the Worlds in Australia so time to put the training in ready.

I compete in powerlifting too. I am the World Champion in single lifts and full power and I hold the world record in my category for deadlift (full power) European records for squat in full power. " it was great to hear Angies Journey, you can hear this episode and all the others on our website www.agegroupmultisportpodcast.buzzsprout.com or on your favourite podcast platform.

Coming up this week on a the podcast we cross over to the US and have the great pleasure to chat with Jeff Schreiber. Jeff grew up playing many of the ball sports, like soccer and baseball, and , basketball,American football.  Jeff played as a quarterback through college years in the mid-80s and then had a short stint playing American football as a professional player-coach in the U.K. semi pro league.
Returning to the U.S. he stayed somewhat active during that time playing basketball, and had a brief dalliance on the practice squad of the U.S. Olympic team handball team while living in Atlanta around the time of the ’96 Summer Olympics there.
Jeff moved into endurance sports, after re-injuring a surgically reconstructed knee playing basketball. He caught the multisport bug – it has moved from a weekend hobby to a lifestyle -  first qualified to represent Team USA in age group world championships in Aquabike in 2018 and has raced in World Triathlon multisport events across various disciplines representing my country’s jersey at these events, being a good ambassador for the sport and the great camaraderie that happens with age-group cohorts from across the world.
Jeff with helping others get into the life-changing experience of endurance sports, coaching local cycling classes and serving as an active board leader of a local triathlon club in our Utah community, and have most recently served as a race guide and push/assist partner for young para-athletes.

Thomas was born in Finland and is Half Finnish on his Mothers side. He lived there up until he was around 14 when he moved to the UK.

He says he joined the Cross country skiing club in Finland between the ages of 10-11 yrs old, "not very quick",he stopped when he moved to UK

Through his Dad he started Orienteering at Berkshire Orienteers when he was 13-14 yrs old, stopped because of migraines and it was uncool.

Thomas started Rowing/sculling at Reading Rowing Club when he was 15-18 yrs old, crazy training but still not quick, stopped because of anaemia & adrenal fatigue.

When he went to Bath University he found Triathlon. The rest is history. Overcoming illness and working a full time job, Thomas has had t great success in his short time in the sport. Sad news this week a member of our agegroup family sadly Passed. It only dawned on me that ai had met and spoken to Peter, after reading the fitting tribute by , when they mentioned he was wearing carbon plated shoes. This May at the European sprint Duathlon at Darley Moor, I was warming up alongside the track, and Peter joked had I counted the tyres, we then got talking about our Nike Alphaflys and how they were worth every penny. A fleeting conversation, but an inspiring one to see someone as old as Peter taking racing seriously and trying to get every advantage he could. RIP sir it was a privilege to have met you.

So this is a lesson our M***a Basjoo taught us this year. I kept it in the garage over winter wrapped up. When I came to uncover it it was wet and looked rotten. I decided it was dead and I was going to compost it, so I left it by a brick wall and pretty much forgot about it. One morning I was pulling off the drive and I spotted something green on it, I thought it was a w**d growing out of the side, but no, it was alive and had sprouted the beginning of a new leaf. When I got home I repotted it and it is now growing rapidly. We knew this already but it has reminded us that we need to give something a chance, give things time, never give up. We are so happy to have this magnificent plant that it’s now got a name, Bella the Banana. Thanks for the reminder!!!!
