(Semi traffic is to continue detour)

UPDATE; We will have our first plane departing tomorrow around noon. The airport will be open at 8 AM to accept donations. We are also supporting Miller Aviation out of Huntington in delivering supplies. 

Sonrise is currently working with an organization to fly hurricane relief supplies to North Carolina. If you would like to help, donations can be dropped off at the Portland Municipal Airport located at 661 W 100 N from 8am-5pm.

Weight is a major consideration, please consider donating items such as these:

We’re getting reports that Verizon, AT&T, & T-Mobile are all having outages at this time.

At JCNI, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to Jay County Emergency Management, the Fire Department, Police Departments, street departments, and the countless volunteers who assisted with last night’s event.

Our Jay County Fire and EMS teams responded swiftly to multiple homes for gas leaks, structural damage, fires, and medical emergencies.

Law Enforcement played a vital role, handling medical assists, traffic hazards, and even a vehicle pursuit.

Our street departments acted quickly, putting up barricades and ensuring roads were safely blocked off.

To all who contributed—thank you for your outstanding dedication and service!

We have been sent a photo from a follower of some of the damage from inside of the High School. It appears multiple walls have been pushed out, celing tiles ripped out and what appears to be a purple substance leaking on the floor.

Tornado event in Portland.

Currently, what we know is multiple houses have sustained damage through Portland mainly on Main Street. The American Leagion is heavly damaged. The Jay county Highschool as well is damaged.

Currently, we are not aware of any injuries. We will be in town early AM to collect drone and scene images.

Winchester, IN tornado. Watch how destructive this tornado is as our storm spotter comes onto the bypass. As you watch the video, the tornado can be seen starting from the left side of the camera view. This is when it was on the west side of the bypass. Once the spotter made it fully onto the bypass, you can see the storm going over 27 and when it exactly hits Goodwill, Walmart, Tacobell, and a church. This is just devastating.
