Tips round 11.

Digging deeper into the season now - and some good contests this round.

Randwick vs Gordon: Stags will be sitting uncomfortably after the last loss - you hate that heading into a week off. Randwick at home in a close one. Wicks by 4.

Norths vs Two Blues: quite like the Two Blues - Norths haven't typically had a giant pack, and at times let that get to them. Two Blues by 9.

Warringah vs West Harbour: would be nice to see the Rats get a result at home - it really hasn't been their year. And Wests haven't won since round 5. Rats by 11.

Uni vs Manly: Manly tend to turn up when playing at Uni - and are coming off 4 wins. Marlins by 13.

Eastwood vs Hunter: hard to back the Woods at home, purely after last week. Wildfires by 15.

Easts vs Souths: Easts haven't won since round 6 but should have this at home. Eastern Suburbs by 13.

Tips as we hit round 10!

Gordon vs Manly: Stags are the form team - top of the table, and chasing a 5th. Hard to lean against them at home. Highlanders by 12.

Wests vs Norths: a game which historically the Pirates have had some luck in. I note the Pirates have had a number of very tight losses recently - Norths might draw away here. Shoremen by 17.

Souths vs Randwick: fascinating to see what Souths are making of the remainder of their season. Their main claim to fame is beating Hunter so far. But this is the type of game they win - Southern Districts by 11.

Eastwood vs Sydney Uni: Uni havent yet driven the point home this year. This might be a chance for them to. Uni by 13.

Hunter vs Easts: Wildfires to bounce back from a couple of Ls on the trot, at home. Wildfires by 19.

Two Blues vs Warringah: Call me dumb, but this is the kind of game where the Rats perform in. I think they might prompt an upset - and keep us interested. Rats by 5

Close round last week. Hoping for the same in round 7

Gordon vs Easts: Beasties were due a convincing win - and they got one last week. Probably enough to tip them over the edge this week. Easts by 8.

Randwick vs Two Blues: both teams are juggernauts this season, to some degree. Two Blues on form - but Wicks appear tough yo beat at home. Randwick by 11.

Manly vs Warringah: Marlins surely start favourites at home, and they might tack up a few tries here. Marlins by 17.

Souths vs Sydney Uni: I don't like what I'm seeing from Uni, although Souths have also been troubled. Uni by 11.

Hunter vs Norths: no disrespect to Norths when I say that Hunter have proved themselves to the point that they start favourites every game - at home at the very least. Wildfires by 5.

Eastwood vs West Harbour: Eastwood should win this - potentially close. Woods by 4

Following a rare good tipping round last week, here we are again

Wests vs Gordon: Gordon have had recently success in this matchup, and while the Pirates are on the up, have to go with the Stags. Gordon by 9.

Randwick vs Manly: Wicks, with the home advantage. By 2.

Souths vs Two Blues: really can't get behind Southern Districts this year. Two Blues by 14.

Easts vs Uni: buckle in! Easts at home, I'm not convinced Uni has overcome its early season blues. Easts by 7.

Warringah vs Hunter: Wildfires are really securing themselves as a top 6 or so team. This will be a test. Outside tip: draw.

Norths vs Eastwood: Norths by 11 at home.

tips as we hit round 5:

Norths vs Gordon: one of my favourite derbies of the year, and severely underrated as a rivalry. I think Norths can win this at home - both based on form this year, and dominance in this game the past few years. Norths by 8.

Wests vs Manly: another hard one to pick, in a tough round for tipping. Wests provide some value at home, and I think this might be an upset. Also, Pirates have won this fixture in the past, against the grain. Pirates by 5.

Warringah vs Easts: I think the Rats should start strongly and probably win this one. Rats by 13.

Uni vs Randwick: Uni need to address a slow start, and I expect they will. Students by 10.

Two Blues vs Hunter: while you might have classified Hunter as being in the same tier as your Wests and Western Sydney *once*, now they're far ahead. But, the Two Blues rise at home. But the Wildfires should get a boost from their new branded bus. Wildfires by 9.

Eastwood vs Souths: Eastwood by 16.

Eastwood historically do well against Easts. By 8.

Hunter over Manly in a close one. By 4.

Tips for the semi finals :

Randwick vs Gordon: really hard not to be impressed by the Stags last weekend, dismantling the Rats. Randwick weren't bad either - but the Highlanders will start favourites. Gordon by 9.

Manly vs Eastwood: Marlins were right up there last weekend, but now it's sudden death. I think the Woods have too much recent finals experience. Eastwood by 8

Some very last minute tips for the finals...

Norths vs Manly: a solid beginning to the playoffs. Norths should win this at home, with the Marlins coming off five (?!) consecutive losses. Shoremen by 10.

Uni vs Randwick (3:30pm) this one should be a pretty straightforward win for the Students, who typically hit another level when finals come around. USyd by 15.

Eastwood vs Easts, (3:30pm) Woods will miss out on home ground advantage and this one could go either way. Easts backline is better - Easts by 3?

Warringah vs Gordon (3pm, Sunday) Rats should hit another level at home and win this. Rats by 11.

Tips for round 17 - last week before finals!

Gordon vs Hunter: this one is interesting - Wildfires are still a faint chance of sneaking into the playoffs. They need a big win here, and I'm not sure they'll land it away from home. Gordon by 10.

Randwick vs Souths: hard to tip against the Wicks at home, with Souths looking to put this year behind them. Wicks by 13.

Manly vs Uni: buckle up. A finals preview. Marlins have lost their last two at home, so they'll want to address that. Uni by 4.

Norths vs Easts: Easts are a slim possibility of missing finals - but can clinch their spot with a bonus point. I think they'll get that, Norths by 6.

Wests vs Warringah: frustrating year for Wests, on and off the field. Rats should win this. Warringah by 13.

Two Blues vs Eastwood: a much improved year for Western Sydney, despite an unfortunate drop off at the end. Two Blues can make a statement here. Two Blues by 10

Tips round 17.

Norths vs Two Blues: unfortunately the last handful of weeks look to rule Western Sydney out of finals. But today I'd expect them to fire a shot. Norths, but in a close one. Norths by 6.

Uni vs West Harbour: Wests are chiming now, having not lost since July 2nd. Uni but in another close one. Uni by 4.

Warringah vs Souths: Rats should have this one. Rats by 14.

Gordon vs Manly: tough one to pick, given both sides' last results. Gordon at home by 8.

Randwick vs Eastwood: form suggests the Woods, and I'm leaning that way. Eastwood by 13.

Easts vs Hunter: classic encounter, as each team looks to sneak into finals. Hunter maybe? Or a draw? I'll chance Hunter by 3.

Tips for round 16 as we hit the business end:

Wests vs Two Blues (tonight, Eric Tweedale): after an incredible season for Western Sydney, they look on the verge of missing finals. They need sides above them, Randwick and Easts to lose time after time. It comes down to who plays better in the wet - Two Blues by 12.

Manly vs Warringah: Marlins need a win here or they'll add to a 2 game losing streak. I don't think they beat the Rats twice in a season. Warringah by 8.

Hunter vs Randwick: Wildfires have a 2 game winning streak, but haven't lost at home since early June. Hunter by 3.

Souths vs Norths: Norths will win this, as they did in round 3. Norths by 15.

Easts vs Gordon: this is tough, but the Stags have a top four spot to clinch. Gordon by 9.

Eastwood vs Uni: phew. Where to start. Maybe Eastwood at home? Woods by 2.

Tips for round 15 - hopefully better than last week!

Randwick vs West Harbour: Wests surprised me and others with a win last weekend - but would you back them at Coogee? I'm leaning away. Randwick by 8.

Manly vs Hunter: one of Hunter's first good results in the comp was a draw at Manly Oval - and the Marlins are just a hint vulnerable. Hunter in an upset. Wildfires by 3.

Norths vs Eastwood: two very different styles - leaning towards Eastwood's physicality here. Woods by 5.

Gordon vs Souths: this one is interesting - and I think Gordon should do the job at home, if it was at Forshaw that's potentially a different story. Stags by 13

Two Blues vs Easts: I'm still in tip-Western-Sydney-at-home mode, and that doesn't change here. Two Blues by 9.

Uni vs Warringah: bring out the popcorn. Literally no clue. Rats, maybe. Yeah, Rats by 4.

Tips for round 14 - as we start the run home.

Hunter vs Two Blues: could go either way, and the home ground is potentially the biggest factor here. But, Two Blues appear well rounded and could win it. Western Sydney by 3.

Souths vs Uni: on paper, the Students have this - and I don't forsee an upset. Uni by 11.

Norths vs Gordon: one thing has been clear, the past handful of years, no matter how good the Stags play - the Shoremen are their bogey team. That could change today, but likely won't. Norths by 6.

Eastern Suburbs vs Eastwood: Woods impressed last week in wet weather footy - and I think they can back it up. Woods by 7.

West Harbour vs Manly: Marlins put them to shame first time round this season, and I'd predict a similar outcome. Marlins by 18.

Warringah vs Randwick: Rats don't lose this at home. Warringah by 4.

Tips for round 13

Eastwood vs Hunter: Hunter, no reason. None at all. Just the Wildfires will win 😉. Hunter by 9.

Randwick vs Gordon. Wicks are buoyed by last week's result, but Gordon has a finals series to make. Gordon by 8.

Manly vs Souths: while not many saw last week's result coming, this has to be where the Marlins make a statement. Otherwise they absolutely jeopardise their first place. Manly by 15.

Wests vs Norths: the last season flurry from the Pirates just doesn't look a reality this year - and they won't win this one either. Norths by 12.

Uni vs Easts: always fun! Sydney Uni have the opportunity to go top of the ladder - which they squandered last week - and Easts are another side chasing finals. Uni by 10.

Two Blues vs Warringah: we've gotten to the stage where Two Blues are practically favourites everytime they play at home. Two Blues by 6.

Norths vs Manly: 2 months ago you'd have had to pick the Shoremen. But on current form, the Marlins. Manly by 11.

Easts vs Randwick: this is a hit out. Could go either way - I'm leaning towards Randwick, again on form. Randwick by 6.

Warringah vs Eastwood: the Woods haven't won in about a month. Surely they turn that around soon - Eastwood by 9.

Gordon vs West Harbour: Stags at home - although Wests might make it tight. The forward packs should decide this one. Gordon by 13.

Souths vs Two Blues: Western Sydney might win this. Two Blues by 12.

Hunter vs Uni: Uni, by 16.

Two Blues vs Randwick. This is a tough test for Randwick, it depends which side shows up on the day but I think Western Sydney starts favourites at home. Two Blues by 8.

Sydney Uni vs Manly: Marlins have won 3 (?) on the trot, I don't know how good the week off has been for them. Uni at home by 13.

Norths vs Hunter: as a rule (and as you'd expect) Hunter are stronger at home than away from it. I think Norths might start winning again. Norths by 17.

Wests vs Easts: West Harbour are starting to chime with a couple of close losses. This might be when they topple the Beasties. Wests by 4.

Souths vs Warringah: the late start, and Souths might win this at home. Just an inkling. Souths by 5.

Eastwood vs Gordon: Gordon are possibly higher on the ladder than they deserve to be. Highlanders will lose this. Eastwood by 13.

Wests vs Randwick: West Harbour continues to...unimpress. This is their opportunity to leapfrog off the bottom of the ladder. Wicks are clicking at the moment. Randwick by 15.

Gordon vs Sydney Uni: Wow! Uni hasn't lost since the Two Blues game, and Gordon appear to be sliding. Uni by 11.

Souths vs Eastwood: this is the type of game Souths win, although not on paper. Woods can shore up their position on the top - although I don't think they will. Souths by 6.

Easts vs Manly: Beasties remain a tough beat at home - but surely someone has to bring Marlins back to the pack? Easts by 12.

Warringah vs Hunter: Rats will win this. Warringah by 17.

Two Blues vs Norths: Norths by 13.

Eastwood vs Two Blues: not to go on like a broken record, but aren't Western Sydney looking good. Even when they lose. Eastwood typically take the foot off the gas when they play non blue blood teams - still backing them here. Woods by 10.

Manly vs Gordon: Tough. Marlins have beaten some of the tougher clubs - so to lose vs Hunter is rough. Manly by 9.

Sydney Uni vs Souths: getting close to crunchtime for Souths. I have no confidence. Uni by 14.

Hunter vs Easts. Hunter proving hard to beat at home, and Easts have their struggles. Wildfires by 6.

Norths vs West Harbour: have to be a huge upset for a Wests team that hasn't fired a shot all season. Norths by 17.

Randwick vs Warringah: Rats can win this on the road. Warringah by 15.
