Linda Kavanagh Speaks on Owning a PR and Marketing Business | Ep: 10

In this week’s episode, Linda Kavanagh talks to us about her business: MaxEx Public Relations. Linda tells us how she found her way to open her own PR and marketing business. Her path began when she first got a taste for the hospitality industry when working at a restaurant in college. She never wanted to leave the restaurant industry behind, but she realized she didn’t want to work in a restaurant for her whole life. Linda teaches us about how she dealt with burnout, which is so common in the restaurant industry. She also speaks on the mentors who helped her to start her business and how far MaxEx PR has grown and evolved over the years.

This week’s guest is Vince Santilli, CEO and executive director at Homes for the Brave.

Before Homes for the Brave, Vince had a 30-year long career at People’s United Bank. For part of those years, he was the Executive Director of their Community Foundation which helped make his transition to the nonprofit world much easier. Vince goes on to talk about Homes for the Brave and its mission to help veterans find a home and a job. Vince goes into detail about their 3 programs for helping the veterans and how they work to serve this mission.

Homes for the Brave has a few events coming up at the end of May and the beginning of June so stay tuned for tomorrow’s episode to hear all about them!

Jeff hasn’t always been part of the nonprofit world but started out in banking. He then transitioned to working at Homes for Hope, another nonprofit, and now Goodwill. He goes into detail about the transition from working in the corporate world to the nonprofit world. He gives a lot of great advice to anyone who is looking to work in the nonprofit sector and also talks about the difficulties that he faced while running Goodwill during the pandemic.
