This beauty is the Yellow Albatross (Appias paulina). The photo was taken near Mt Bartle Frere which is Queensland's highest mountain and an absolute natural paradise!

No matter how often I see Ulysses Butterflies (Papilio ulysses) in my garden, they never fail to take my breath away! I feel so fortunate to see them on a daily basis. It's even warm enough here for them to visit in Winter.

Today I'm cooking with this ingredient for the third time. It is a great addition to any roast meat with its subtle honey and citrus notes. Kunzea is deliciously savoury with a hint of herby. Yum! I'll post the recipe asap.

Another photo from 12/12/2021. I feel like my flower photos are much better these days. Unfortunately this Bower of Beauty (Pandorea jasminoides) isn't flowering at the moment so I can't update my floral image. It is a delightful vine, perfect for climbing fences and for combining with Aristochlia vines which host Birdwing butterfly species.

This little charmer has unique variations not often seen in King Parrots (Alisterus scapularis). We miss these characters who used to visit every day and even landed on our hands, arms and heads. Tamest wild birds ever!

Playing with colour using a shot of the deliciously beautiful and edible Native Violet (Viola banksii). The flowers on this groundcover are tiny, around the size of an Australian 5 cent piece. If you're looking for a living mulch or a shade-loving groundcover, this lovely plant will grow in many different climate zones as long as they get enough water to establish.

Ah the thugs! This is what we used to call the marauding packs of Sulphur-crested Cockatoos (Cacatua galerita) when they invaded our South-east Queensland garden and pruned various plants. They are smaller here in Far North Queensland but just as raucous.

After a catalog malfunction, I've lost a lot of my work but I've decided to make the most of it by uploading new edits as I go. This photo was taken 12/12/2021 and I think my photography skills have improved since then....what do you think?
Monarch Butterflies (Danaus plexippus) are not native to Australia and there are many theories about how they got here... these range from being blown here to eggs arriving on a ship carrying their host plant. Regardless, they have little impact on our natural environment and they are truly a beautiful species!

So I decided not to remove the caterpillar from my propagation area. So I took more cuttings from the host tree and the little one is growing and growing. Now he/she looks so different! Fingers crossed that I end up with a chrysalis in my propagation area. I will pop a link in the comments if you want to see the video when this little one was tiny....

Look what I found in the kitchen moving around my propagation station for cuttings in water!? So thrilled! I have 5 host trees in my garden planted for Ulysses Butterflies but this is the first caterpillar that I have found. I will let it stay in the kitchen to protect it from predators.
