I offer my obeisance’s to Lord Kṛṣṇa, the beloved son of Vasudeva, who killed the great demons Kaṁsa and Cāṇūra, who is the source of great joy to Mother Devakī; and who is indeed a world teacher and spiritual master of the universe. (1)

A very happy New Year to all of you!
This celebration marks the end of the present year and entrance to the following one – our entrance to a new cycle of time. Time is like a river, continuously flowing and we all are floating in its current. In this way time takes us through childhood, boyhood, youth and old-age. When we get the human form of life, we are meant to utilize our time in developing our relationship with Krishna, our Supreme Lord and master, dear-most friend and caring father.
Time is an expansion of Balaram, the original spiritual master, whose main business is to take us to Krishna. So, let us flow through the time, especially now that we found our ultimate destination, the lotus feet of Sri Krishna. Let us have the full conviction that if we remain fixed in our goal, then someday, time will take us to that destination. And as we are floating in the current of time through different phases of life let us sing the glory of the Lord and dance in ecstasy for receiving this golden opportunity to reach our ultimate destination.

Just at the beginning of creation, Lord Brahma was plunged into deep thought of obtaining a son as mighty as he himself. Very soon a baby appeared in his lap whose form was reddish-blue. Half of his body was of a woman and rest was of a man. He was stubborn and gigantic and all the directions and angular directions were illuminating by the light coming out from his body. Having seen him so glowing with light, Prajapati said - " O wise child, go on my words and divide your body into two parts."
Complying with the suggestion of Brahma, the gallant rudra separated his masculine and feminine parts of the body so combined at that time. He then divided the masculine part into eleven forms which were known as - Ajaikapāda, Ahirbudhnya, Kapālī, Hara, Bahurūpa, Tryambaka, Aparājita, Vrsākapi, Śambhu, Kapardī, and Raivata. These eleven are rudras and governs the three world. The feminine part of the body was also divided into eleven parts, the same way as that of the masculine part. Goddess Umā is the only wife in her varied forms to all these Rudras.
