Feeling discouraged this morning…IVDD (intervertebral disk disease) is a degenerative disease which doesn’t really have a cure, and its very painful. They do not really talk about rehabilitation unless you elect to have the surgury to remove the calcified disks, without surgury moslty all you can do is manage the innflammation and the pain, limit movement until swelling goes down and then restrict activity to prolong time between inevitable flareups in the future, which would start the cycle all over again. 😢

I wish I had been more informed, I would have seen the signs earlier and known what to ask for. It breaks my heart that my dog has been in pain for longer than I realized.

Surgery of this calibre is risky for younger dogs than molly, and the road to recovery is long. I’m just so heartbroken 💔 right now.

Mollys been spending a lot of time going back and forth to the vet this week.

We appreciate everyone’s prayers and positive thoughts as we work to get her healed.

Even though she is 13, she is in excellent health. The injury she is dealing could have been prevented with more attention to reduce jarring movements such as jumping off furniture and sliding on slippery floors.

I’m in no way blaming myself, only wanting to bring awareness for other pet parents that that type of movement can be very damaging to the spine of our fur babies. It’s safer to sleep then in a kennel beside the bed, take them around instead of up and down stairs and to limit playing to outside if you have hard floors. Investing in some non-slip socks is also a great idea.

I contribute Molly’s good health to the products and supplements we use and also her healthy diet. I am so grateful to for introducing me to this way of feeding and caring for my girl.

We had such a great time at the river yesterday.

So much fun exploring Mom forgot to take any videos.
I even tried out swimming but I think I would rather explore the bank and stay out of the deep water. 🌊

Finished our day with a bath cause Mom said I smelled like a farm dog 🐶 and I wasn’t allowed to sleep in her freshly cleaned sheets without one.

Benefits of feeding raw bones

🦴 Cleans and descales teeth

Guideline to feeding bones

1. Bones MUST be raw! Do not feed cooked or smoked bones as they are indigestible

2. Bones should be crunchy for proper descaling

3. Small dogs do well on chicken thighs or wings

4. Medium and large dogs can have lamb shanks or legs, lamb necks and rib bones (cut into smaller pieces)

As always your pet should be monitored while enjoying their raw bones.

Don’t feed raw bones more than 2-3 times per week as they are harder to digest.
