Happy 66th Birthday to the creator of the world wide web, Tim Burners-Lee! He is notoriously known for creating the big WWW back in 1989 at the age of 35 years old. Tim created the WWW in hopes of positively connecting humanity. “If you connect people up and you take away the national boundaries, and you just leave humanity connected, it will naturally become better.”
He believes, though, that the internet has brought out the worst in people, instead of bringing “constructive conversation.” It is a place where crime can happen, and hate can be spread.
As a result, he has created the World Wide Web Foundation in hopes of making the web serve humanity and do public good globally as he intended when creating it. “The web as I envisaged it, we have not seen it yet. The future is still so much bigger than the past.”
