💪 Our Unsung Hero for Round 17

Simi Sasagi continues to prove his value in the nation’s capital, perfectly summing up how everyone has bought into Ricky’s Raiders in 2025.

Whether it’s off the bench, filling in at centre, or stepping up in the back row, the 24-year-old has met every challenge thrown his way.

In Round 18, replacing Origin forward Hudson Young, Sasagi put on a standout display against his former club, the Newcastle Knights. He opened the scoring with a powerful leap and finish, then backed it up with a slick offload to help Starling setup another - showcasing both strength and skill in an important win.

One of the most sought-after young ho**ers in the game is on the move 🚨

The Eels are reportedly set to land 20-year-old Tallyn Da Silva on a four-and-a-half year deal, beating out competition from the Sea Eagles, Knights, and Cowboys.

The deal is expected to be finalised early this week, with Da Silva joining Parramatta immediately.

It’s a major move for the Eels, who’ve been on the hunt for a long-term option at ho**er since Reed Mahoney’s departure and Da Silva could be the perfect fit.

Kalyn Ponga Ruled Out of Origin III with Lisfranc Injury

Queensland’s State of Origin campaign has taken a major hit, with Kalyn Ponga officially ruled out of the Game III decider after the Newcastle Knights confirmed he has suffered a Lisfranc injury.

The star fullback left the field in clear discomfort during the second half of the Knights’ narrow 22–18 loss to the Raiders on Friday night. He was later seen in a moon boot, and scans have since confirmed the serious midfoot injury.

It’s another cruel setback for the 27-year-old, who suffered a similar injury to his opposite foot last year that kept him sidelined for 11 weeks.

With Ponga officially unavailable, attention now turns to who will wear the No.1 jersey for Queensland. Reece Walsh shapes as the frontrunner, with Maroons coach Billy Slater expected to name his Game III squad on Monday.

With Ponga out, how would you reshuffle the Maroons’ backline for the decider?

Selwyn Cobbo Signs with the Dolphins from 2026 - Bears 2027??

The Dolphins have pulled off a major recruitment win, signing Queensland and Australian star Selwyn Cobbo on a one-year deal starting in 2026.

The 23-year-old winger, who hails from Cherbourg, will return closer to home and add serious strike power to a Dolphins backline already boasting Herbie Farnworth, Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Jamayne Isaako, Jake Averillo, and Jack Bostock.

Capable of playing across the backline, Cobbo brings representative pedigree and untapped potential - something Dolphins CEO Terry Reader is excited about:

“Selwyn is an accomplished player who has done some amazing things at both Origin and NRL level already.
But we believe he has untapped potential to go to even greater heights in our game and are excited about what he can do in a Dolphins jersey.”

Cobbo has already played 80 NRL games, six Origins, and debuted for the Kangaroos in 2023. He will link up with the Dolphins at the end of the current season.

Only signing for 2026, will we see Cobbo at the Bears for 2027?

Calls are growing for Queensland to recall Josh Papalii for the Origin decider - just over a year after the veteran prop retired from rep footy.

Papalii has been in strong form for the Raiders this season, and while teammate Corey Horsburgh is also in the mix, there’s real buzz about a shock return for one of Queensland’s most reliable forwards.

Ben Hunt added fuel to the fire on 4BC radio:

“I hope to God it is true.
I would love to see big Paps out there. There was never a time when he pulled on the jumper that he let Queensland down and he is playing great footy at the moment.
He is the ultimate warrior. He would bring some real aggression up front if we brought him back in.”

With question marks over several current forwards and Billy Slater set to name his squad Monday, all eyes are on whether Big Papa gets one last call-up.

Should Queensland bring Papalii back for Game III? 👇

The Brisbane Broncos have made a significant move in the player market, signing Melbourne Storm outside back Grant Anderson on a two-year deal starting in 2026.

The 25-year-old winger will call Red Hill home through to the end of the 2027 NRL season.

Broncos General Manager of Football Troy Thomson praised the acquisition, citing Anderson’s consistency and versatility.

“Grant is a great footballer with a proven ability at NRL level, and we’re confident he’ll be a valuable addition to the Broncos both on and off the field,” Thomson said.

“He’s been in excellent form and continues to show that he’s not only dependable, but also highly versatile across the backline.”

The signing adds to the speculation around the future of Selwyn Cobbo, who has been widely linked with a move. With Anderson's arrival, the Broncos are bolstering their outside back depth, potentially providing the flexibility to explore positional shifts or create additional competition for spots.

Adding to the boost for Brisbane fans, the club also confirmed the re-signing of emerging talent Josiah Karapani on a two-year extension. The promising back has shown glimpses of his potential and will remain at the club until at least the end of 2027.

Together, the two signings reflect the Broncos’ long-term focus on building a dynamic and adaptable backline as they prepare for the seasons ahead.

Is this a good signing for Maguire and the Broncos?

💪 Our Unsung Hero for round 16

Hugo Savala continues to provide a steady hand for the Roosters in 2025 as they enter the top 8.

The Rookie number 7 was given his debut earlier this season and has been one of the main reasons the Roosters have turned their season around.

He provided a strong kicking game as usual along with some attacking flair against the Cowboys that’s creeping into his game as he gets more and more settled in the top grade.

Who do you think deserves a mention from last weekend?
